(CHICAGO) -- Tom Hanks' 20-year-old son isn't quite following in his dad's footsteps.
Chet Hanks, a student at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., has released a rap song that has become a minor hit on the Internet. The song, "Purple and White," is inspired by Whiz Khalifa's "Black and Yellow" and is a nod to the school's official colors.
In discussing the song with his school newspaper, Hanks, who raps under the alias Chet Haze, says, "Any kids really living the college life can relate to it."
He tells the New York Daily News that his parents, including mom Rita Wilson, support his rap career "100 percent."
Hanks has also released another song online, titled "West Side LA." Despite his music aspirations, he has dabbled in his father's profession: the theater major had a small role in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
