Chris Daughtry Hopes New Album Will Come Out This Year

ABC News Radio(LOS ANGELES) -- Chris Daughtry has been giving fans constant updates via Twitter as he and the rest of Daughtry have been working on new songs in the studio.  Now he's finally given a hint as to when the new tunes will become available.  Chris wrote on Twitter, "A few more days of writing left, THEN we start recording the record in July.  It will HOPEFULLY be out before the year's end."

The American Idol vet added, "It's been an incredible two weeks writing with the boys...we wrote some magical stuff that I can't wait for you all to hear! It has truly been three steps in the right direction."  However, when it comes to actually performing, it appears as though the band may be a bit rusty. Describing a "celebratory jam session" with his bandmates, Chris wrote, "Wow, we sounded awesome AND awful, all at the same time."

Daughtry's last album, Leave This Town, came out in July of 2009. It went platinum and produced three hits, including "No Surprise."
