'Dancing with the Stars': Chris Jericho Voted Off

Bob D'Amico/ABC News(LOS ANGELES) -- WWE star Chris Jericho and partner Cheryl Burke were voted off ABC’s Dancing with the Stars Tuesday night after receiving the lowest overall combined total of judges’ scores and viewer votes.  The couple was at the bottom of the pack going into the results show after a tango Monday night that Judge Bruno Tonioli described as clumsy.

After getting the bad news, Jericho admitted to co-host Brooke Burke that Monday’s tango wasn’t his best effort, but he said he was proud of all the dances they did and also proud to show that “a WWE guy and rock and roll singer can go this far and do this.” Noting that Dancing with the Stars requires a tremendous amount of effort and time, Jericho said he’s looking forward to getting back with his kids because he hasn’t seen them in four weeks.

The results show also featured musical performances by NKOTBSB and ousted American Idol singer Pia Toscano.  The New Kids on the Block/Backstreet Boys performed their single Don’t Turn Out the Lights and a two-song medley of their hits Step by Step and I Want It That Way.

Pia Toscano sang I’ll Stand by You while her rumored “close friend,” Dancing with the Stars pro Mark Ballas, danced with Karina Smirnoff.  After her performance, host Tom Bergeron asked Toscano how she could be voted off American Idol.  She was diplomatic in her reply, saying everything happens for a reason and she is “in a good place now.”  Bergeron didn’t press Toscano on rumors she was dating Ballas -- he simply asked the singer if Ballas was a good kisser.  Toscano replied that the dancer was “a wonderful person.”

The show’s Macy’s Stars of Dance troupe paid tribute to Britain’s upcoming royal wedding with a performance of a couple’s fairytale love story through the ages.

Ralph Macchio and partner Karina Smirnoff survived to dance another day, despite Smirnoff tripping over the actor’s cape during their performance Monday night.  Pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy is now calling the area of the floor where Karina fell the "Dancing With the Stars' triangle” -- as in Bermuda Triangle.  Maks told the four square feet of ballroom floor is the same spot where he fell with partner Kirstie Alley, and where former contestant Misty May-Treanor, the Olympic volleyball player, ruptured her Achilles tendon during season seven.  Maks said his fellow dancing pro, Derek Hough, also fell in the same spot and suffered a concussion.

Preceding the results show, ABC broadcast a one-hour live special entitled Dancing with the Stars: The Road to the Finals.  The special featured the judges and past contestants critiquing this season’s stars and their ballroom performances.  Hanson appeared for a second consecutive night and performed their new song Give a Little, and former American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis and his cast mates from the Broadway musical Rock of Ages also performed a special medley of 80’s songs on the special.

Dancing with the Stars returns next Monday night at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
