Robin Williams to Receive Comedy Icon Award

Dave Hogan/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Emmy, Oscar and Grammy winner Robin Williams will soon have another trophy for his mantle.

He has been named the 2012 recipient of the The Comedy Awards' second Stand-Up Icon Award.  Tracy Morgan presented the inaugural award to Eddie Murphy last year.

The awards ceremony, to be taped at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom, will air on Comedy Central on Sunday, May 6.

The Comedy Awards: 'Bridesmaids,' 'Crazy, Stupid, Love.' Lead Nominees

Kevin Winter/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Bridesmaids and Crazy, Stupid, Love. are the leading film nominees for the second annual The Comedy Awards, presented by Comedy Central.  They each received five nods on Tuesday.

Bridesmaids and Crazy, Stupid, Love. are nominated in the best comedy film category, along with Horrible Bosses, Midnight in Paris and The Artist.  The latter film, which won the Oscar for best picture a week and a half ago, earned a total of three nods.

ABC's Modern Family and NBC's 30 Rock topped all TV series with five nominations apiece.

Fans can now cast their votes in the "breakout performer of the year" category by visiting  The choices include Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy and New Girl actress Zooey Deschanel.

The Comedy Awards will be taped at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on April 28.  It will premiere on Comedy Central on May 6.

Best in Comedy Honored at First Annual Awards Show

NBC Universal(NEW YORK) -- David Letterman received the highest honor, Eddie Murphy was recognized as an icon, and Modern Family won best TV show as winners were announced for the first annual comedy awards during a telecast in New York on Saturday.

"The Comedy Awards" is touted as the first-ever multi-network, multi-platform annual event recognizing the best in comedy.

Letterman was awarded "The Johnny Carson Award for Comedic Excellence" in honor of a comedian who best embodies the comedic qualities of the legendary talk show host. Also receiving top honors was Eddie Murphy, who was given the "Comedy Icon Award", recognizing the comedian for his extraordinary contribution to the world of comedy.

Other winners included 30 Rock's Alec Baldwin as Best Comedy Actor in television and Kristen Wiig as Best Comedy Actress for her work in Saturday Night Live. Modern Family also won Best Comedy Directing-TV in addition to Best Comedy Series.

On the big screen, Tiny Fey for Date Night and Zach Galifianakis for Dinner for Schmucks won Best Comedy Actress and Actor in film, while The Other Guys was named Best Comedy Film.

The show will air April 10 at 9 p.m. EST on Comedy Central and several MTV networks, including Spike TV and VH1.

Nominees Announced for First-Ever Comedy Awards

Photo Courtesy - NBC Universal, Inc.(NEW YORK) -- Comedy Central and MTV Networks have announced their nominees for their first-ever Comedy Awards, which will be held next month in New York City.

30 Rock leads all TV series, with seven nominations.  The NBC comedy got a lot of love in the acting categories, with principal cast members Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan and Jane Krakowski all competing for awards.

Easy A, Cyrus and Kick-Ass are the top film nominees, with four nods apiece.

The Comedy Awards will be taped at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on March 26 and will air April 10 on Comedy Central, VH1, Spike TV, TV Land and Nick at Nite.
