(NEW YORK) -- Katie Holmes is returning to the stage. The newly-single actress has announced that she will star in the comedy Dead Accounts, opening on Broadway this fall.
Holmes will play Lorna, a woman who is living with her aging parents in Cincinnati while trying to figure out her life. She also has to deal with the return of her brother, Jack, who comes back to the fold with a load of money and without his wife.
Dead Accounts comes from Pulitzer Prize finalist Theresa Rebeck. Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien has been tapped to direct. A representative for the play said Holmes’ four cast members will be announced shortly.
Holmes, who split from husband Tom Cruise earlier this month, made her Broadway debut with a revival of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons in 2008.
Fall will be a busy season for the 33-year-old actress -- her fashion line, Holmes & Yang, will make its runway debut at New York Fashion Week in September.
