Taylor Swift Is Top-Selling Digital Single Artist in History

Jordan Strauss/WireImage(NEW YORK) -- Taylor Swift now has more digital single download certifications than any artist in history.

According to the Recording Industry Association of America, Swift's sold 22.5 million digital songs over the course of her career, besting her nearest competitors Lady Gaga, Rihanna and the Black Eyed Peas.

Among Swift's latest certifications is a triple platinum award for "You Belong with Me."  Her singles "Fifteen," "Forever & Always" and "Back to December" have also been certified platinum.

Swift was the RIAA's top certified artist for digital sales in the past decade spanning 2000 to 2009, as well.

Lady Gaga Sets Digital Record with 20 Million Downloads Sold

Bruce Glikas/FilmMagic(WASHINGTON) -- Lady Gaga has just set the record for the most digital singles sold ever.

According to the Recording Industry Association of America, Gaga is the highest certified artist when it comes to digital sales, racking up 20 million downloads sold.

"Just Dance" has been certified six times platinum, for sales of six million copies.  "Poker Face" is five times platinum, "Bad Romance" is quadruple platinum, "Paparazzi" is triple platinum and "Love Game" is double platinum.

Hot on Gaga's heels are Taylor Swift and Rihanna.  Rihanna has sold 19 million digital singles, while Swift has sold 18.5 million downloads.

Beatles Sell Five Million iTunes Tracks in Just Under Two Months

Photo Courtesy - Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- When The Beatles' music first appeared on iTunes last Nov. 16, the Fab Four sold two million singles in just the first week.  Now, two months later, is their music still as popular with iTunes customers?  The answer is a resounding "yes."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Beatles have sold five million tracks total, and a million full-length albums.

The George Harrison composition "Here Comes the Sun" is still the number one Beatles song download.  The band's most popular iTunes album continues to be Abbey Road.

"Don't Stop Believin'" Sets New Digital Download Record

Music's ChartBeat column reports that American rock band Journey's 1981 hit "Don't Stop Believin'" has just passed the four million mark in digital downloads.  That makes it the only song released before the year 2000 that has sold that many copies.  In fact, no other song released before 2000 has even hit three million in download sales.

The song's surge in popularity when it comes to downloads can be attributed to its use in any number of movies and TV shows.  In 2007, the song was featured in the series finale of HBO's The Sopranos.  More recently, it appeared in the very first episode of Fox's Glee in May of 2009, as well as in the show's season finale three months ago.
