Is Trump's 'Birther' Crusade Hurting 'Celebrity Apprentice'?

Mike Stobe/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- While Donald Trump's pursuit of President Obama's birth certificate has made him a superstar in some political circles -- and a supervillain in others -- a media research company claims Trump's politics are hurting his reality show.

According to data from National Media Inc., which places political ads on television, the audience for The Celebrity Apprentice ranks among the most liberal of any primetime show.

"I was surprised to find that The Celebrity Apprentice was so liberal, because the audience for Survivor is fairly Republican," said National Media Inc.'s senior vice president for research, Will Feltus.

The Atlantic, which exclusively obtained the data, alleges that left-leaning Celebrity Apprentice audience is down from last year and "falling fast," as Trump continues campaigning against the president, who on Wednesday released his birth certificate in an effort to finally put to rest rumors that he wasn't born in Hawaii.

Jerry Springer: Donald Trump the 'Flavor of the Month'

Mike Stobe/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- While Donald Trump mulls over running for president, another TV star with experience in politics is throwing in his two cents.  Jerry Springer, who once served as mayor of Cincinnati, tells PopEater.com he knows why the country is riveted by the Celebrity Apprentice star potentially running for the world's most powerful office.  Springer said, "Remember when you were a little kid and a wise guy at the back of the class would shout things out?  That's Trump.  He makes you laugh and giggle."

Springer also says Trump has filled a void created by a certain polarizing political figure, adding, "Sarah Palin is no longer the flavor of the month, so Trump is."

Report: Oprah Wants to Give Donald Trump a Makeover

PRNewsFoto/Discovery Communications, George Burns(NEW YORK) -- Donald Trump has never been one to shy away from publicizing himself, but is he willing to let people put their hands on his precious hair in exchange for promoting The Celebrity Apprentice and his potential presidential bid?  The New York Post reports Oprah Winfrey has reached out to Trump and other “big names” to appear on one of her last talk shows for a makeover in May.  Sources tell the newspaper an email invitation to Trump’s office reads in part, “The eyes of the world will be upon these episodes...This will become one of those historical television moments that will become iconic.”

Sources say Oprah’s producers have promised Trump he can plug The Celebrity Apprentice and his potential White House bid, and they have also vowed to treat his makeover with “integrity” and “not let it become a joke or silly.”

Lil Jon, Mark McGrath Ready to Compete on 'Celebrity Apprentice'

Mike Stobe/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- The fourth installment of NBC's Celebrity Apprentice debuts this Sunday night and it's an unusually music-heavy lineup this year.

Among the contestants:  Rapper Lil Jon, Sugar Ray lead singer Mark McGrath, music legend Dionne Warwick, classic rocker Meat Loaf, David Cassidy -- who was the Justin Bieber of his day; country star John Rich and Latoya Jackson, Michael Jackson's sister.

The contestants will be split into two teams and compete against each other in a series of business-related challenges around New York City to raise money for their favorite charities.  The eventual winner will be "hired" by Donald Trump and earn the title of "The Celebrity Apprentice," as well as an extra $250,000 thousand for their charity.

Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath, who's also hosted Don't Forget the Lyrics! and co-hosted the TV show Extra, says he wants to win because, as he puts it, "I've already done two jobs I can't do: sing and host.  So why not be the next Celebrity Apprentice?"  Mark explains that he makes a good contestant because, out of all the others competing, he's "done the most with the least."  He says since he doesn't have the best singing voice, and he's not a businessman.

"I've really had to sorta over-compensate for things I don't do well....I've had to really sort of tap into my own senses and make it happen," McGrath said.

Lil Jon, who hasn't had a big hit on his own in a couple of years, says he's competing so that people can see a different side of him.

"I think people underestimate because I'm the rap guy, I'm a crazy guy, screaming all the time,” Jon said. “But that doesn't mean that I'm not intelligent."

"A lot of stuff that I'm involved in is about branding...I have a couple different businesses...so I want to prove they are wrong."
