White Powder Found at CBS Studio Deemed Harmless

Photodisc/Thinkstock(LOS ANGELES) -- A suspicious white powder was found Wednesday inside an envelope addressed to Dancing with the Stars at CBS' Television City studio complex in Los Angeles, where the ABC competition is staged.

However, Los Angeles police say the powder was a harmless substance.

Last month, a threatening letter was sent to CBS late-night host Craig Ferguson at the same complex.

'Dancing' Scare: Bristol Palin Targeted by Threatening Letter?

Photo Courtesy - ABC/ADAM LARKEY(LOS ANGELES) -- The FBI is investigating the source of a threatening letter containing white powder that arrived Friday night at the Dancing With the Stars production office.

The scare forced the evacuation of the Los Angeles studio used to shoot the ABC television show.

"Measures were taken to secure the area and ensure the safety of personnel,” ABC spokesperson Amy Astley said in a statement. “Ultimately we were advised by the LAFD that the substance was determined to be talcum powder." reports the letter targeted contestant Bristol Palin, the oldest daughter of former Republican vice-presidential candidate and Alaska governor Sarah Palin. The FBI would not confirm the recipient to ABC News.

It's the latest turn in a controversial week for the show. On Tuesday, Bristol Palin survived a shocking elimination night, advancing to the finals over singer Brandy who earned perfect scores. Outraged viewers flooded ABC with complaints. One man was arrested for shooting his television, disgusted that Palin made it through.
