"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" Extra Receives $18.5M Settlement

iStockphoto/Thinkstock(CHICAGO) -- An extra who was severely injured while working on the most recent Transformers movie will receive an $18.5 million settlement, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Gabriella Cedillo was involved in an accident while driving a car during production in 2010 of Transformers: Dark of the Moon in Hammond, Ind.  A cable pulling a stunt car snapped loose and crashed through the windshield of her car.

Cedillo, who is now 26-years-old, suffered a head injury that left her brain permanently impaired.

Multiple lawsuits were later filed on Cedillo's behalf.´╗┐

Joaquin Phoenix "Wanted Out" of Mockumentary

Photo Courtesy - Magnolia Pictures(GLENDALE, Calif.) -- Oscar nominated actor Joaquin Phoenix tells Extra there were times he "wanted out" of the mockumentary I'm Still Here. The star raised more than a few eyebrows with the project, in which he purported to have quit acting to pursue a rap career.  Phoenix tells Extra, "At some point, it became such a public spectacle...To be frank, we were kind of hostage to the process. There were times...where I wanted out. Even on a conventional film I'm done after four months. But this went on and on."  I'm Still Here is directed by Casey Affleck.

The phony career switch included disastrous performances and a now-infamous interview on The Late Show with David Letterman, in which a bearded Phoenix mumbled his way through an almost incoherent chat segment.  Phoenix appeared on Letterman's show last week to discuss his earlier appearance.  He tells Extra he wanted to reveal the documentary as a hoax on Late Show to prove "I wasn't on the show to make a fool of him." Says Phoenix, "In this film, I think the only person who comes off as a real jerk is me."
