Will Smith on Fame and Family

Photo by Jun Sato/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) -- Will Smith and his son Jaden co-star in the upcoming sci-fi drama After Earth, their second on-screen pairing after 2006's Pursuit of Happyness.

Fourteen-year-old Jaden and his younger sister Willow are following in their parents' footsteps with careers in music and movies, and the father-son duo spoke to New York magazine about their relationship on and off the big screen. Jaden and Willow's mom is actress Jada Pinkett Smith.

When asked if Jaden could have been a dentist instead of an actor, Will Smith replies, "It may seem like we have pushed our kids into the business, but that is absolutely insane. I would never, ever, push somebody to have their face on a poster that’s going be everywhere in the world. He is making a choice from the informed."

The elder Smith adds, "It's less scary to me than if he wanted to be a dentist in that I couldn’t help with what he'd chosen. I have relationships with some of the biggest filmmakers and actors and producers on Earth. So I can be a huge help."

Will notes that his daughter Willow chose to sing and then she changed her mind and he respected her decision. He explained, "At the peak of 'Whip My Hair,' she's like, 'Daddy, I'm done.' I was like, 'Wow, wow, wow. No, baby, I got Annie -- the upcoming movie remake, you know. It’ll be New York, you'll be with Beyoncé. You can bring your friends.' And she said, 'Daddy, I got a better idea. How about I just be 12?' At the end of the day, it has to be their choice."

Will was also asked about his family's similarities to the Kardashian family, who have essentially treated their fame as the family business. He responded, "We are trying to put great things into the world, we’re trying to have fun, and we're trying to become the greatest versions of ourselves in the process of doing things we love. So the idea of fame or exploitation or orchestrating the media is sometimes even less than desirable for us."

After Earth opens nationwide May 31.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries' Tie the Knot

David Livingston/Getty Images(MONTECITO, Calif.) -- Kim Kardashian and NBA player Kris Humphries have tied the knot.

The 30-year-old reality TV star married the 26-year-old New Jersey Nets player in a lavish ceremony at a private estate in Montecito, Calif., on Saturday.

Kardashian walked down the aisle on the arm of her stepfather, Olympic great Bruce Jenner, wearing an ivory Vera Wang creation, People and E! reported.

The gown was one of two Vera Wang dresses Kardashian was expected to wear on her big day, each with a price tag close to $25,000, according to Life and Style Weekly.

"Her ceremony dress will be a little bit more conservative and more traditional than the dress she will end up wearing for the reception," said Juliette Izon of Life & Style Weekly.

Kardashian was also expected to wear not one, but four pairs of glitzy shoes throughout the ceremony and following festivities.

"Four pairs of Christian Louboutin shoes, every woman's dream," Izon said.

The guest list includes Justin Bieber, Christina Aguilera, the Williams sisters, Kelly Osbourne, and of course Humphries' New Jersey Nets teammates. But there was some last minute drama with the list.

"Basically she invited too many people and the space couldn't fit it so the fire marshall came in and said you're going to have to narrow your numbers or you can't have your wedding," Izon said.

Guests were expected to be treated to a towering cake by Hansen's, a $15,000 creation with 10 layers and decadent frosting inspired by the real royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Kardashian called in to Ryan Seacrest's radio show Friday to talk about the fact that her late father wouldn't be there to give her away.

"You'll feel I think the presence of my dad, you'll feel love in this room and that's what's going to be the best part of this whole night," Kardashian said on the show.

The event was being recorded by E! Network for a prime time special in October, but no other cameras are allowed.

Chris Brown's Album Headed to Number One

Jive Records(NEW YORK) -- Even though Chris Brown made headlines earlier this week when he threw a tantrum backstage at Good Morning America, it doesn't seem to have affected his album sales.

Billboard reports that Brown's new disc F.A.M.E. is on target to debut at number one next week, with first-week sales between 250,000 to 300,000 copies.

In addition, Brown's single "Look at Me Now," featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes, has just become his first top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 since "Forever" hit number two in 2008.  This is Brown's 10th trip overall to the top 10 on that chart, but it's significant because it's his first track to chart that high since his 2009 assault of Rihanna.
