(LOS ANGELES) -- Corbin Bleu helped make High School Musical a hit, but now he’s being sued for allegedly failing to help another film achieve success.
TMZ.com reports the financiers of the 2008 movie Free Style filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court Thursday against Corbin, Samuel Goldwyn Films and others, claiming the 22-year-old actor failed to properly promote the film.
Third Eye Capital and Strative Capital claim Corbin was contractually bound to publicize the film but he “refused and failed to perform those services” and as a result, the movie tanked. TMZ reports Free Style earned just $463 in its opening weekend and went on to earn just over $141,000 in a month.
According to court papers, the financiers put up more than $8.5 million for a film that earned a worldwide total of $1.3 million.
The plaintiffs are seeking $12 million in damages.
