Photo by Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic(NEW YORK) -- Sandra Oh is on the go. She's announced that she will leave Grey's Anatomy after its upcoming 10th season.

The original cast member, who plays Dr. Cristina Yang, tells The Hollywood Reporter, "Creatively, I really feel like I gave it my all, and I feel ready to let her go."

Oh says she informed series creator Shonda Rhimes of her decision at the conclusion of the most recent season. However, she didn't let her co-stars know until Tuesday, when they were reading the script for the show's 200th episode.

How Oh's character will be written off the show remains to be seen.

First Six Minutes of Shocking "Grey’s Anatomy" Season Finale Released

ABC/RANDY HOLMES(LOS ANGELES) -- Shonda Rhimes, the creator of ABC’s Grey's Anatomy, has advised that Thursday’s season finale will contain "really shocking, horrible moments," and the just released first six minutes of the episode certainly confirms that warning. The footage is extremely graphic.

Fans viewing last week's penultimate episode of the season saw a plane carrying the show's main characters crash in a forest.  The finale opens with the staff from Seattle Grace realizing they've been in a plane crash.

The season finale of Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursday at 9 p.m. Eastern time.

"Grey's Anatomy" Character Will Die in Season Finale

ABC/RANDY HOLMES(LOS ANGELES) -- The season finale of Grey's Anatomy will be a dark one.

The creator of the ABC drama, Shonda Rhimes, tells TV Guide that a "beloved character" -- in the words of the magazine -- will be killed off.  She says the episode will contain "really shocking, horrible moments" that brought the show's writers to tears.

Rhimes says it was "torture" for her to write the season finale, which airs on May 17, because she's scared of how fans might react to it.  The storyline will involve the staff members of Seattle Grace dealing with a medical case outside of the hospital.

It won't be the first time a regular character on the show has been killed off -- T.R. Knight's Dr. George O'Malley died after getting hit by a bus.
