(NEW YORK) -- It's been several years in the making, but now USA Today reports that Original Sin, an album that reworks songs by the Australian band INXS, will arrive in stores Jan. 11. The remaining members of INXS, minus late lead singer Michael Hutchence, who died in 1997, put together the album, and invited famous vocalists to sing on the tracks.
Rob Thomas, a good friend of the band, is featured on the title track, while Train's Pat Monahan takes the lead on the song "Beautiful Girl." In addition, the Australian paper The Herald Sun reports that John Mayer plays guitar on a new version of the song "Mystify," and singer JD Fortune appears on the song "The Stairs." Fortune won the reality show Rock Star: INXS and recorded one album with the band, 2005's Switch.
Pat Monahan told USA Today, "Some may have forgotten how great a band INXS is, but maybe this will remind them and introduce younger fans [to them]."
Train and INXS will tour Australia together in January.
