(LOS ANGELES) -- George Clooney is reportedly looking to sell his mansion on the shores of Lake Como in Italy because members of the paparazzi are permanently camped outside when the star is home and they follow his every move.
The Hollywood Reporter quotes a report by Italian news program TG 24 that says the intrusiveness of the press has gotten to the point where Clooney’s current girlfriend, Stacy Keibler, has given him an ultimatum that he choose the villa or her.
If the report is true, it could mean the end of Clooney's 10-year love affair with the region. Two years after buying Villa Oleandra in 2002, the 51-year-old actor was made an honorary citizen of Laglio, the town where the villa is located.
The Hollywood Reporter says Clooney also filmed his 2010 movie The American in Italy after he promised the residents of the earthquake-ravaged region of Abruzzo that he would shoot a movie there to help their local economy.
Clooney was also romantically linked to Italian actress Elisabetta Canalis for almost five years and is a regular face at the Venice Film festival.
In an interview with TG 24, photographer Pierpaolo Ferreri defends the actions of the paparazzi, saying, “Clooney is a public figure. We stay out of the house and try to photograph him when he comes out. What’s wrong with that? Let us do our jobs.”
