Johnny Depp Named America's Favorite Movie Star

Photo Courtesy - Martin Bureau/AFP/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Captain Jack Sparrow himself, Johnny Depp, tops the annual Harris poll of Americans' favorite movie stars.  He jumped one spot from his second-place finish last year, while Denzel Washington climbed from number three in 2009 to number two this year.

Last year's favorite movie star, Clint Eastwood, dropped to ninth.  John Wayne -- the only star to appear in the list every year since 1994 -- came in third.  Harrison Ford and Angelina Jolie, absent from the 2009 list, took fourth and fifth, respectively.  Meryl Streep and Morgan Freeman, who each made the list in 2009, dropped off in 2010.

More than 2,300 people participated in the survey, which was conducted in December.  Here's a look at America's 10 favorite movie stars:

Johnny Depp Dressed as Jack Sparrow Surprises Fan at School

Photo Courtesy - Disney(LONDON) -- A nine-year-old Pirates of the Carribbean fan, and the rest of her Southeast London Elementary School, got quite a shock when a letter she wrote to actor Johnny Depp received a very personal response.

Beatrice Delap wrote to Depp's character Captain Jack Sparrow after visiting the U.K. set of Pirates of the Carribbean: On Stranger Tides. The little girl wrote that she and her fellow "budding young pirates" were "having trouble mutinying against the teachers. We'd love it if you could come and help."

In response, Depp and several other actors stormed the Meridian Primary School in full character dress, before a stunned school assembly, and then Depp asked to speak personally to Delap. He gave his young fan a hug and advised mutiny wasn't the best idea, "because there are police outside monitoring me."

Someone caught the moment on their cell phone camera and posted the video on YouTube.´╗┐
