Jack White, Wife Karen Elson Throwing 'Divorce Party' to Mark Split

SEBASTIEN BOZON/AFP/Getty Images(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) -- Jack White and his wife Karen Elson are breaking up -- but they're not too broken up about it.  In fact, they're even throwing a party to mark the occasion.

In a statement, the couple said, "We remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee. We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow."

The couple then went on to say, "In honor of that time shared, we are throwing a divorce party -- an evening together in Nashville to re-affirm our friendship and celebrate the past and future with close friends and family."

They also issued a copy of the invitation to the party, which is taking place Friday night in Nashville.  The invitation states, "Karen Elson and Jack White kindly request [your] presence at a party to celebrate their 6th anniversary and their upcoming divorce, with a positive swing bang humdinger."

The invitation goes on to say that the bash will include "dancing, photos, memories and drinks with alcohol in them," and states that it is only for their family and close friends, "so no dead beats."  It ends by saying, "Please help us celebrate together this anniversary of the making and breaking of this sacred union of marriage with our best friends and animals."

The White Stripes Break Up

Photo Courtesy - Third Man Records(NEW YORK) -- Jack White and Meg White, the two members of the band The White Stripes, have officially called it quits.

The duo posted a farewell message on their official website.  The statement reads, "The reason is not due to artistic differences or lack of wanting to continue, nor any health issues as both Meg and Jack are feeling fine and in good health.  It is for a myriad of reasons, but mostly to preserve what is beautiful and special about the band have it stay that way."

The band released six studio albums over the course of their 13-year career.

The statement goes on to say that the White Stripes "do not belong to Meg and Jack anymore.  The White Stripes belong to you now and you can do with it whatever you want.  The beauty of art and music is that it can last forever if people want it to.  Thank you for sharing this experience."

Recently, Jack White has been all over the place with his many projects.  Besides starting two new bands, The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather, he also runs the Nashville, Tennessee-based Third Man Records.  White has also produced and recorded plenty of up-and-coming acts, along with legends including Loretta Lynn and Wanda Jackson.
