(PROVIDENCE, RI.) -- Former Survivor champ and current Celebrity Apprentice contestant Richard Hatch is going back to prison. The Hollywood Reporter says Hatch was sentenced in Providence, RI., on Friday to nine months in prison for a tax issue related to the $1 million grand prize he won on Survivor in the year 2000. He must report to prison on Monday. He says he will file an appeal.
A federal judge previously determined that Hatch, who spent more than three years in prison for failing to pay taxes on his Survivor prize, had violated the terms of his supervised release by not filing amended tax returns for the years 2000 and 2001. In addition to his latest prison sentence, Hatch was ordered to serve 26 months' supervised release, during which time 25 percent of his gross income will go to the IRS. He currently owes an estimated $2 million to the IRS, including penalties.
Hatch's predicament won't affect the current season of The Celebrity Apprentice in the short-term. All of the episodes, except for the live finale on May 22, have already been taped.
