Jason Mraz Won't Wed Until Gays Can Too

Photo Courtesy - Atlantic Records(LOS ANGELES) -- Jason Mraz and his girlfriend, singer Tristan Prettyman, got engaged around Christmas, but don't hold your breath waiting for a wedding invitation.  Jason told Us Weekly magazine that he and Tristan won't tie the knot until gay couples can do the same.

"The wedding would be nice for our family, our friends, our community -- our moms especially...[but] we can't get married until [gay] marriage is legal and equal," he said.

"I think giving people the right to marry will be a huge movement in civil rights."

Jason made those statements at a benefit held last week in Beverly Hills to raise money to fight Proposition 8, which banned gay marriage in California.

Jason Mraz Records New 'Very Special Christmas' Song

Photo Courtesy - A&M Records(NEW YORK) -- Jason Mraz has cut his own version of the holiday classic "Winter Wonderland" as part of the ongoing A Very Special Christmas series of recordings.

The Very Special Christmas albums have been raising money for the Special Olympics since 1987, and over the years, they've featured artists ranging from U2, Bruce Springsteen, and Bon Jovi, to Sheryl Crow, Colbie Caillat, and Carrie Underwood.

Mraz's take on "Winter Wonderland" is now available for download on iTunes, and it's also been added as a bonus track on A Very Special Christmas Volume 7, which came out last year.  In a statement, Mraz said that as a kid, he purchased A Very Special Christmas albums, and he was "touched" that he was invited to take part in them now.

He says, "For me, Special Olympics is about embracing the abilities that we do have.  It's the same thing I do with my concerts.  I just want to shift the attention back to love and joy and happiness in this 'now' moment, and I really get that Special Olympics does the same thing."´╗┐
