Pregnant Singer Jewel Hit by Firetruck

Rick Diamond/WireImage(STEPHENVILLE, Texas) -- Pregnant singer Jewel experienced quite the health scare on Friday when the car she was traveling in was hit by a fire truck.

“The singer was taken to the hospital and current medical tests conducted indicate that she and the baby and doing fine,” a rep for Jewel said in a statement.

According to, the crash happened in Stephenville, Texas, about two hours southwest of Dallas.

Jewel, 36, announced in January that she and hubby Ty Murray were expecting the couple’s first child.

Singer Jewel Announces She's Having a Boy

"We would have been happy either way, of course, but we are so excited to be having a little boy," she said.

The 36-year-old singer announced earlier this month she and Murray are expecting their first child.  It's unclear when she's due.

Jewel Expecting First Child

Photo Copyright Lynda Churilla(NEW YORK) -- Jewel is pregnant.  The 36-year-old singer tells People she and hubby Ty Murray are expecting.  She is in her second trimester, although it's unclear when she is due.  It will be the first child for the couple, who married in 2008.

Jewel said she learned the news her first day as host of Bravo's upcoming series Going Platinum, adding, "I took a pregnancy test and it was positive!  It was so hard to keep it a secret.  I was worried I'd start throwing up on set and everyone would be like, 'Oh, she's pregnant.'"  She also said she hopes to enjoy the experience, noting, "I'm trying to be in the moment and really enjoy my pregnancy.  I feel really lucky."

VH1 Announces New Ambassadors for 'Save the Music'

Photo Courtesy - VH1SaveTheMusic [dot] com(NEW YORK) -- John Mayer, Lifehouse, Sara Bareilles, Jewel and Glee star Amber Riley have been announced as newly-minted "ambassadors" for VH1's Save the Music Foundation.  All these artists are committed to the foundation's efforts to restore music programs in public schools across the country.

John Mayer will be honored for his work Nov. 8 at the foundation's annual gala in New York City, where Natasha Bedingfield will perform.  Kristin Chenoweth and Cheyenne Jackson of 30 Rock and Glee are also on the bill, while presenters for the evening include Jason Mraz.
