Jonathan Rhys Meyers Developed the Shakes from Alcohol Abuse

Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage(LONDON) -- Actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers has reportedly developed the shakes as a result of excessive drinking, and is now being treated at a five-star rehab facility in South Africa.

Britain's Sun newspaper reports Meyers signed up for a three-month stay at the Montrose Place rehabilitation center in Cape Town after completing a drying out session for alcohol addiction in London.

A source tells the newspaper Meyers looked "very pale and thin and had restless leg syndrome, with one leg shaking if he sat down."   The source added, "That's typical of people who have done a lot of alcohol."

The 32-year-old Meyers previously spent time at a California rehab facility.  The actor has had several incidents of public intoxication in recent years, including a May 2010 run-in with a United Airlines employee who barred him from a flight because he was drunk.

Meyers' acting credits include Match Point, Mission Impossible III, and the starring role in the Showtime series The Tudors.
