(LOS ANGELES) -- Karen Rodriguez was voted off American Idol on Thursday's results show.
The judges decided not to use their one save of the season on her after she sang Mariah Carey's "Hero" in both English and Spanish to try to earn her survival. Naima Adedapo and Haley Reinhart were in the bottom three with Rodriguez, but they'll be competing again next week.
At the top of the show, Ryan Seacrest asked American Idol fans to donate $10 to the Red Cross' relief efforts in Japan by texting REDCROSS to 90999.
The top 12 also performed a mashup of Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild" and Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" in keeping with this week's "year of birth" theme.
Reigning American Idol champ Lee DeWyze returned to sing his brand-new single "Beautiful Like You" and give some advice to the contestants. Also, the Black Eyed Peas premiered their new song, "Just Can't Get Enough," on Thursday's show and dedicated the tune to their friends in Japan.
The top 11 return to American Idol to perform for America's vote again next Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
