Baker Makes Life-Size ‘Cake Middleton’

Nadine Moon/Who Made The Cake!(HOUSTON) -- The Great Kate Wait has never been more delicious.

In anticipation of the royal baby, a Houston cake designer constructed an edible life-size model of Kate Middleton cradling the heir-to-be.

“I think everyone loves Princess Kate’s story, it’s everyone’s fairy tale,” Who Made The Cake! owner Nadine Moon told “I think she’s such an inspiration to so many brides, and we thought it was a neat thing to honor her and do a life-size tribute to her in cake and Rice Krispies Treats with the baby.”

Cake Middleton stands tall at 5 feet 6 inches, and weighs more than 200 pounds, Moon said.

To create the full-scale replica, Moon and her team of eight first created the framework for the cake with PVC piping and wood support, before sculpting Kate’s torso out of Rice Krispies Treats.

Then, the team built Kate out of dense butter pound cake topped with layers of vanilla and amaretto butter cream frosting before covering her in a white chocolate fondant.

Instead of recreating Kate’s iconic Alexander McQueen wedding dress, she designed a dove gray satin colored gown with lace accents and silver metallic sparkle she hand-painted for the duchess to wear. Moon also worked to ensure Kate’s hair was perfectly coiffed by hand painting it as well.

Kate and Prince William’s bundle-of-joy got also royal treatment.

“The baby is wrapped in a blanket, but you can see the little face peeking out,” Moon said. “There’s also a gold HRH monogram on the blanket.”

Moon said she’s hoping the royal baby is a girl.

The life-size cake took Moon and her team a week to build before it went on display Saturday at the Bridal Extravaganza Show in Houston. The show’s officials have reached out to Kensington Palace to see if the mom-to-be and the royal family would like the cake shipped across the pond.

“If Kensington Palace says yes, it will be shipped off to London,” Moon said. “I would need to go with it and assemble it there.”

Susan Risdon, spokeswoman for the Bridal Extravaganza Show, told that she has been emailing back and forth with Kensington Palace since Wednesday about the opportunity to bring Cake Kate across the pond.

“We’re still waiting to hear back, but I’m thinking they’re a little busy right now,” she said.

Photographer Imagines Kate Middleton's Life Using Royal Impersonators

Alison Jackson/Rex USA

(LONDON) -- Kate Middleton and Prince William are staying out of the public eye as they prepare to welcome their first child, and one photographer is taking a guess as to what they might be up to.

Alison Jackson, the same photographer who staged a fake baby shower with royal impersonators, is now imagining how the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, both 31, might be preparing for their baby’s impending arrival.

In actuality, final preparations are being made for the royal baby. Recently Middleton reportedly made a secret visit to St. Mary’s Hospital, where she’ll deliver the baby, for final checks. A helicopter is waiting in a field near Prince William’s home in Wales to fly him to London should Kate go into labor while he’s working.

They’ve also brainstormed a few favorite names for both boys and girls, as they’ve chosen not to find out the gender of the baby. While it’s unclear what names are on their short list, betting shops are predicting Alexandra for a girl and George for a boy.

Royal Baby Could Arrive During Queen’s Party

Niall Carson - WPA Pool / Getty Images(LONDON) -- The highly anticipated arrival of the royal baby could come in the middle of Queen Elizabeth’s four-day Coronation Festival this summer, according to a report.

A friend of the Duke and Duchess and Cambridge told the Mail on Sunday that Kate Middleton’s official due date is July 13.

If true, that means the future king or queen would be born the middle of the Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation Festival, which is scheduled from July 11-14. The four-day extravaganza will celebrate 60 years since the monarch was crowned.

The Clarence House Press Office told ABC News today they could not comment on the report but said “the baby is expected to be born in July.”

After Middleton’s pregnancy was announced in December, bookies began taking bets on whether the royal baby might share a birthday with Princess Diana, who was born on July 1.

Kate Middleton’s (Lookalike’s!) Baby Shower

Alison Jackson/Rex USA(LONDON) -- Just because Kate Middleton won’t have an actual baby shower doesn’t mean we can’t dream, right?

Such was the thinking behind photographer Alison Jackson’s recent shoot, in which she asked royal impersonators to pose together for a baby shower picture.

Surrounded by lookalikes of everyone from Carole Middleton to Queen Elizabeth to Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, a brunette beauty with a striking resemblance to Kate Middleton toasts her baby and opens gifts.

However, in real life, Prince William, 30, and his wife of two years, 31, “are clearly very wealthy and a lavish baby shower would be seen as highly inappropriate,” Victoria Arbiter, ABC News royal expert, said in March. “There’s nothing they can’t go out and buy themselves."

Clearly: Though she’s not due until mid-July, Middleton has already begun to shop for her baby, stopping into the posh Blue Almonds boutique in London last month.

Kate Middleton Makes First On-Camera Charitable Appeal as a Royal

WPA Pool / Getty Images(LONDON) -- A pregnant Duchess of Cambridge has made her first on-camera charitable appeal for children’s hospices in the United Kingdom.

In the video, which made its debut Saturday, Kate Middleton urges people to support children’s hospice week.

“Children’s hospices provide lifelines to families at a time of unimaginable pain,” the royal mum-to-be says in the video.

Middleton and Prince William are celebrating their second wedding anniversary on Monday, the same day the Duchess plans to visit Naomi Children’s Hospital in Hampshire, England.

Two years after their fairy tale wedding, the royal couple have shown a desire to live as normal a life as they possibly can.

“They’re really shaking things up behind the scenes and within the royal family,” said ABC News’ royals expert Victoria Arbiter. “They’ve done things that we wouldn’t have expect of them.”

They’ve also spent vacations with Kate’s family, commoners who made their fortune with a party goods business.

“I think William was sending a clear message that yes, Kate’s a member of the royal family, but he, too, is a member of the Middleton family,” Arbiter said.

With the royal heir due in two months, the royal couple plan to be hands-on parents.

“They will have nannies at some point,” Arbiter said, “but I don’t think it’s going to be the school of nannies we’ve seen in the past.”

Kate Middleton's Day in the Great Outdoors

Andy Stenning WPA - Pool/Getty Images(LONDON) -- The world does not yet know whether the unborn child of Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and Prince William will be a girl or a boy, but on Friday at least, the duchess appeared as though she is ready for a boy.

Middleton, 31, traded her usual high-fashion look to get down and dirty with the U.K.'s Cub Scouts, spending a day with them in the great outdoors.

Middleton, dressed in an Army-style green jacket, jeans and her favored Le Chameau boots, braved the cold and blistery English weather to visit the Great Tower Scout Camp near Newby Bridge in Cumbria.

The duchess, five months pregnant with her and William's first child, stayed warm by huddling near a campfire and roasting pastries along with other volunteers, according to the U.K.'s Mirror.

The paper reports that Middleton has privately volunteered with the Scouts near the couple's home in Anglesey, Wales, where William is based as a search-and-rescue helicopter pilot, but Friday's outing marked a new step in her support, meant to encourage others to volunteer too.

Middleton was seen laughing with her fellow volunteers over the state of their respective pastries, known as "twists," and even got into the action herself, rolling the dough with her sapphire wedding ring on and all.

"Oh, it's actually not bad, if you were desperately hungry," she said after a taste test, the Mirror reports. "It's quite sugary."

Middleton appeared with the queen and Prince Philip earlier this week at a London Tube station where she received a "Baby on Board" badge from London Underground chief operating officer Howard Collins.

In Friday's visit, Middleton got another decorative fashion keepsake, this time a red, white and blue Scouts scarf that she proudly wore around her neck tied in a "friendship knot" during the visit.

"She was passionate about doing this course today," Scouts' assistant director Simon Carter said of the duchess, according to People magazine. "Other scout leaders who have spoken to her say she loves asking questions. … She wants to get as much information as possible to take back with her."

2012 Ends With Baby Boom

iStockphoto/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- Last year ended with a boom — as in baby boom.

Several A-list celebrities announced at the end of the year that they were expecting in 2013.

On New Year’s Eve, Kim Kardashian, 32, confirmed the news that she is pregnant with boyfriend Kanye West’s child.

It’s true!! Kanye and I are expecting a baby. We feel so blessed and lucky and wish that in addition to both of our families, his mom and my dad could be here to celebrate this special time with us. Looking forward to great new beginnings in 2013 and to starting a family. Happy New Year!!! Xo,” the reality star tweeted Monday.

West, 35, first broke the news Sunday night during a concert in Atlantic City. The rapper told more than 5,000 concertgoers to congratulate his “baby mom” and that this was the “most amazing thing.”

Kardashian has long expressed her desire to have children. Around the time of her 30th birthday in October 2010, she told People that she thought she would have had four kids by then.

Instead, Kardashian married NBA star Kris Humphries the following year, and they split in October 2011 after 72 days of marriage. Their divorce is not yet finalized.

West and Kardashian began dating in April.

Also at year’s end, Jessica Simpson made headlines with the news on Christmas Day that she was expecting her second child with fiancé Eric Johnson.

On Dec. 30, Simpson tweeted a photo of her blooming midsection while clad in a bikini, along with the words “Bumpin’ and Proud!”

Simpson’s baby news dominated much of 2012. First there was her dramatic weight gain during pregnancy, then daughter Maxwell Drew’s birth in May, followed by the singer’s struggle to take off the baby weight while serving as a Weight Watchers celebrity spokesperson.

Simpson will go off her Weight Watchers diet now that she’s expecting again but will maintain her business agreement with the weight loss company as well as appear in the company’s ads, including one in which she shares her “happy news.”

Perhaps the biggest baby news of last year — and most eagerly awaited — came from Britain’s royal family.

In early December, St. James Palace announced that Kate Middleton and her husband Prince William were expecting their first child, who will eventually be the heir to the British throne.

The royal couple was forced to go public with the news of the pregnancy in Kate’s first trimester, after the duchess was admitted to a central London with hyperemesis gravidarum, an acute morning sickness which requires supplementary hydration and nutrients.

Now that the guessing game over when Kate and William would produce an heir is done, a new watch begins for them and the other expecting couples over those very first baby photos.

Kate Middleton's Nose Wins Acclaim and Envy

PHIL NOBLE/AFP/Getty Images(LONDON) -- She has her prince, a designer wardrobe, enviable hair and even a baby on the way.

None of those things are what mere commoners most want from Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, however. What they want is her nose.

Middleton, 30, the wife of Britain's Prince William, can add another notch to her royal crown. Her nose is the most popular celebrity look-a-like feature in the U.K. for 2012, according to data from the Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group, one of England's top cosmetic surgery centers.

Middleton, who announced earlier this month that she was pregnant with the couple's first child, also topped the list of the most requested female celebrity look overall, beating out stars and models like Cheryl Cole, Myleene Klass, Nicole Scherzinger and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who rounded out the top five, respectively.

"It's not surprising that Kate Middleton is the No. 1 requested female celebrity with cosmetic surgery patients," the center said in a statement. "Her long, glossy brunette hair, pearly-white teeth and perfect pins tick every box."

Though the survey results were just released this week, it's not clear when the survey was taken, before or after Middleton debuted her buzzed-about new bangs. Just days before being hospitalized for acute morning sickness, Middleton stepped out in late November at London's Natural History Museum sporting a new, layered look to her long brown hair.

She flaunted her bangs, and her now-publicly pregnant figure, most recently onstage at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards ceremony wearing a dark green gown reportedly by Alexander McQueen, the same fashion line responsible for her ivory and lace wedding gown.

Speaking of the royal wedding, one woman who did not make the plastic surgery list this year? Middleton's younger sister, Pippa, 29, whose scene-stealing figure in her white maid of honor dress at the 2011 wedding inspired its own cosmetic surgery trend, the "Pippa butt lift."

Pippa Middleton Defends Party Planning Book ‘Celebrate’

Clive Brunskill/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Kate Middleton‘s sister, Pippa Middleton, is defending her party planning book, “Celebrate” against critics who have called the book too “basic.”

The sister of the Duchess of Cambridge is fighting back in an article in the Sunday Telegraph by arguing she wanted to produce something simple.

“I wanted to produce something that was achievable; something that people would have on their shelves for years; something that was not too fussy,” Middleton wrote in the article.

She reveals for the first time that she worked in the most working class of establishments – a pub.

“My interest in food really began with a month’s cookery course in Frome, Somerset, after my A-levels. I left the course not an incredible cook, alas, but a real enthusiast. Food and cooking is at the core of entertaining, and my passion grew and grew,” Middleton wrote.

Middleton also claims some culinary chops by citing her less traditional dishes such as slow-braised pig’s cheeks, muntjac ragu (Chinese deer meat sauce), ox tongue baguettes and pigeon-breast salad.

“She was quite keen to write something that reflected her a little bit more, reflected actually how she’s learnt all these tips, where she’s learnt them from, something a bit more personal and warm,” said  Sunday Telegraph Royal Correspondent Roya Nikkhah.

Middleton also revealed that she likes whiskey sours and reportedly plans to write two more books – one about children’s parties, another about planning weddings.

“By writing something she takes back control and says, ‘this is why I’ve done it, this is how I learnt to do it, this is why I’m putting it out there.’ I don’t think she’s that fussed about the critics, to be honest,” said Nikkhah.

Royal Family Will Seek Injunction Over Kate Middleton Topless Photos

Chris Jackson/Getty Images)(NEW YORK) -- Lawyers for the royal family will appear in court Monday in Paris, where they will ask a judge for an injunction to prevent other publications from printing topless photos of Kate Middleton sunbathing.

The photos were first published in French magazine Closer and later ran in the Irish Daily Star. An Italian gossip magazine, Chi, has announced plans to run them next week in a special issue.

The magazine reportedly has 200 photos of the Duchess sunbathing on a balcony in France, according to TMZ.

The couple's lawyers will also seek damages.

"There can be no motivation for this action other than greed," a St. James Palace spokesperson told the BBC, in regards to the Irish publication.

Northern and Shell, the owners of the Irish Daily Star, said they disagreed with the newspaper's decision to publish the photographs of the Duchess of Cambridge.

The scandal blew up on Friday when Closer published a five-page spread of photos of what appears to be the Duchess of Cambridge, 30, on vacation, sunbathing, under the headline "Oh My God!"

Prince William and Kate Middleton have begun "legal proceedings for breach of privacy" against the magazine's publishers, St. James Palace said in a statement Friday, after calling the publication of the photos "a grotesque and totally unjustifiable" invasion of the young couple's privacy.

The magazine defended the decision to publish the photos, saying in a statement on its website that the photos would only appear in the French, not the British edition, and were not degrading.

The pictures were reportedly taken while Middleton and Prince William, who celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary in April, enjoyed a mini four-day vacation together last week at a secluded chateau in the south of France before beginning a tour of the Far East and South Pacific to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee.

The royal couple was reportedly told about the photos as they ate breakfast Friday before visiting a mosque in Malaysia. A palace source tells ABC News that at first the couple simply felt saddened, but as the day wore on the sadness turned to shock and anger and ultimately resulted in a decision to take legal action against the magazine.

"Their Royal Highnesses have been hugely saddened to learn that a French publication and a photographer have invaded their privacy in such a grotesque and totally unjustifiable manner. The incident is reminiscent of the worst excesses of the press and paparazzi during the life of Diana, Princess of Wales, and all the more upsetting to The Duke and Duchess for being so," the St. James Palace said in an earlier statement Friday.

The revelation came just one day after Middleton marked an important first as a royal, delivering her first official speech overseas. The well-received speech was delivered to staff and patients at the Hospis Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur and focused on the importance of specialized medical care for seriously ill children. Middleton is a Royal Patron of East Anglia's Children's Hospices in England.

The couple, who also visited Singapore and are scheduled to end their trip this weekend in the island nation of Tuvalu, have been met by cheering crowds at each spot so far on their tour.

Thursday's event at the hospice was no different, with a barrier collapsing from the weight of fans reaching out to see them. Young children from a nearby school greeted Kate and William, who joined her for the visit, outside the hospice with Malaysian flags and a welcome banner. Once inside, the couple met with young patients and drew with them on clay bricks, according to reports.

Despite the topless photo revelation, the royal couple has carried on in public as if nothing had happened.

The couple arrived today on the Solomon Islands, where they attended a jubilee celebration of thanksgiving and were greeted by 60,000 well-wishers.

Just after William and Middleton were engaged, the prince expressed his concerns about the paparazzi and said he had given Middleton the chance to get out of the relationship if she thought the attention would overwhelm her.

"I wanted to give her a chance to see in and to back out if she needed to before it all got too much. I'm trying to learn from lessons done in the past and I just wanted to give her the best chance to settle in and to see what happens on the other side," the prince said.
