Kate Upton Upset with Victoria's Secret

Photo by Tony Barson/FilmMagic(NEW YORK) -- Supermodel Kate Upton is furious at Victoria's Secret for using old photos of her after her relationship with the company had ended.

Upton, who has appeared on the covers of Sports Illustrated and Vogue, is also in the latest Victoria's Secret catalogue, but sources tell ABC News, "She's not thrilled about the images being used."

In fact, sources say she wasn't even told she'd be featured.

The photo, taken in 2011, shows Upton in black lingerie when she was under contract with Victoria's Secret. But that contract is over, as is their relationship, ever since a Victoria's Secret model booker told the New York Times, "We would never use Kate. She's like a footballer's wife, with the too-blonde hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money could go out and buy."

"Whether Victoria's Secret owned the rights to this photo or not, it's very unorthodox for a company to use a model in this explicit way without that model's knowledge first," Tony Case, executive editor of Adweek, told ABC News.

The 20-year-old quickly rose to fame after being discovered in 2008. And just three years later, landed on the cover of Sports Illustrated, about the same time she was working for Victoria's Secret. But shortly thereafter, the lingerie giant reportedly branded her as too "obvious" for the runway and dropped her.

This leaves some wondering if she wasn't good enough then, why is she good enough now?

"When those photos were taken two years ago, none of us really knew who Kate Upton was," said Cynthia Bailey, CEO of the Bailey School of Fashion. "Now she's a huge celebrity and if Victoria's Secret owns those photos, it's just good business for them to use them."

ABC News reached out to both camps for comment, but neither side is talking.

Teen Who Asked Kate Upton to Prom Takes Another Sports Illustrated Model

@NinaAgdal/Twitter(LOS ANGELES) -- The supermodel who accompanied Jake Davidson to his prom may not have been Kate Upton, but the Los Angeles high school senior didn’t seem to mind one bit.

Davidson, who was turned down by Upton after his YouTube “prom-posal” went viral, managed to land a first-class backup date when Nina Agdal, the model Sports Illustrated named Rookie of the Year, agreed to attend his prom with him.

If their Instagram pictures and tweets are any indication, the 21-year-old Danish model and Davidson had a smashing time together Thursday night at the prom.

Agdal wore a floor-length green halter gown with her hair swept into a pony tail, while Davidson looked dapper in a tuxedo, as they posed together for photographs outside of his home.

Davidson had asked Upton to be his date in a March 16 video that went viral, garnering more than 2.5 million views.  In the clip, Davidson  is seen lounging on a reclining patio chair, lathering up before a shave, practicing  push-ups and shampooing in the shower.

“You’re on the cover of Sports Illustrated. I read Sports Illustrated. …  Kate, great moments are born from great opportunity. And that’s what you have here today. A chance to make a nice guy’s senior year the best ever,” he says in the video.

The high school senior’s plea, showing  no small amount of chutzpah when he coyly asked   if he could call Upton Katie, made it to the 20-year-old  cover model, who  soon tweeted back to Davidson.

“You can call me Katie if you want! How could I turn down that video!  I’ll check my schedule (wink),” she wrote.

Alas, when Upton finally did check her schedule, the “maybe” turned into a definitive “no,” but after Thursday night’s prom, it’s safe to say Davidson still had the best night ever.

“Had such a great prom night. Thank you @jakedavidson23 for being an awesome date! ” Agdal tweeted when the night was over.

“You are the best! thanks so much for everything,” Davidson replied, but the supermodel had the final word.

“You are!” she tweeted. “Thank you babe.”

Kate Upton and Diddy Deny Dating Rumors

Stephen Lovekin/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Men everywhere can breathe a sigh of relief: despite a report claiming otherwise, Kate Upton is not, in fact, dating Diddy, the model tweeted.

“Really???” wrote Upton, 20, upon learning of the rumor that she and the music mogul, 43, were “hot and heavy.” “Not at all true…” she added.

According to the report, the Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover girl and the rapper were spotted kissing at club LIV in Miami Beach last month. It was also reported that they had a romantic dinner in New York City last week.

Diddy later tweeted a similar message. “I don’t even know Kate Upton personally!” he wrote. “I’m not dating her! What’s being reported is not true. END of story!”

Kate Upton Considers Teen's Prom Invite

Stephen Lovekin/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- Jake Davidson is one brave 17-year-old.

The high school senior from Los Angeles asked Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton to be his prom date via a YouTube video. In the clip, titled “Kate Upton, Will You Go to Prom with Me?” Jake explains why Upton should be his date.

“Kate, can I call you Katie? OK, Kate works,” Jake says in the video, while taking a shower.

“Kate, great moments are born from great opportunity and that is what you have here today, a chance to make a nice guy’s senior year the best ever,” he continues, while tying his tie.

He goes on to explain that he can’t dance and he’s shorter than her, but they do have things in common, including Sports Illustrated. Upton poses in it wearing swimsuits and Jake reads it.

And Jake might just get his perfect prom. The model tweeted back to him Tuesday, saying, “You can call me Katie if you want! How could I turn down that video! I’ll check my schedule ;)”

Jake was then surprised on NBC’s Today show this morning by a phone call from Upton.

“This just got so much better now that you’re on the phone,” he said before pitching his prom night to her. “I’m telling you it will be a great night, great evening. I could even get the curfew extended hopefully by my parents, maybe. I hope you’d be interested if your schedule is free, and what time should I pick you up if you are interested?”

Upton, 20, told the teen he seems like a lot of fun but she has to check her schedule.

If the date goes through, Jake might just have to work on changing his 11 p.m. curfew.

The last model to grace the cover of the swimsuit issue two consecutive years was Tyra Banks in 1996 and 1997, according to Sports Illustrated.

The issue will hit newsstands on Tuesday.

‘Skinny’ Blogger Calls Kate Upton Fat ‘Piggie’

Gilbert Carrasquillo/FilmMagic(NEW YORK) -- Kate Upton is known for her lush figure, but a blogger who acknowledges preferring the “skinny aesthetic” has likened the curvy swimsuit model to a cow and a pig.

In a June 10 post on the website “Skinny Gurl,” the unnamed female blogger wrote: “Did you know that humans are 80% genetically identical to cows? Well, allow me to prove it to you… .” That line was followed by an unflattering photo of the back of Upton’s lingerie-clad body on the runway.

The blogger wrote that Upton was “confidently lumbering up the runway like there’s a buffet at the end of it,” and also called her a “little piggie” with “huge thighs, NO waist, big fat floppy boobs, terrible body definition … .”

But the tables have been turned on the blogger. In a July 8 post, she wrote that she has been deluged with angry emails and threatened with rape and death.

The fashion world’s most influential insiders have denounced the blogger and risen to Upton’s defense.

“Running this site where you actually praise women for staying emaciated and skinny and then to go out there and then track someone who has a normal body, I mean, she’s got issues,” said Lesley Jane Seymour, editor-in-chief of MORE magazine.

“She’s laughing all the way to the bank,” supermodel and author Carol Alt said of Upton.  “I would just say keep your end up and keep moving forward.”

Online, the hacker group Anonymous launched a cyber attack against the Skinny Gurl website, forcing her to change web hosts.

It’s all resulted in some changes to her site, among them the removal of the “Starving Tip of the Day” and the addition of language that “explicitly prohibits the glorification or promotion of self-harm.”

She also wrote that she planned to add resources for help with depression, eating disorders, and self-injury.

Explaining the idea behind the site – which she says is “pro-skinny” but not “pro-ana” (for pro-anorexic) — she wrote: “As a thin person, I was also annoyed by our double-standards around weight. For example, people think nothing of telling a thin woman – to their face, in front of an entire group of people – how skinny they are and even to suggest what they should eat. But I’ve never seen the reverse happen to an overweight woman.”

The blogger writes that she was a model in school and now works in the fashion industry.

“I take personal pride in keeping myself thin (since people keep asking: I’m about 5’7″ and try to stay around 100 lbs),” she wrote. She adds that she stays anonymous because she has “a real-world profession with clients and partners and this is a controversial subject, even in places like NYC and Hollywood.”

While she acknowledged that she has had her “own issues” with food and eating and that those issues had found their way into the writing on her blog, she noted: “There’s nothing wrong with saying skinny is beautiful, just like there’s nothing wrong with saying curvy is beautiful, or red hair is beautiful, or anything else someone happens to find appealing. It’s an opinion, and we’re all entitled to them.”

For model Alt, the weighty war of words is another example of the extreme pressure the fashion industry places on girls.

“Sometimes in this business people’s expectations are a bit unrealistic and it’s very hard to attain those kind of expectations,” she told ABC News.

Kate Upton Lights Up Internet with ‘Cat Daddy’ Video

Gilbert Carrasquillo/FilmMagic(NEW YORK) -- Two videos of supermodel Kate Upton are making the rounds online. One features her in a barely-there bikini doing the “Cat Daddy,” a dance that requires her to vigorously thrust her body back and forth. The other is a two-minute long commercial for Skullcandy headphones in which she follows a couple of NBA players to work and asks them annoying questions while they shoot hoops.

Guess which one is more popular?

Upton’s “Cat Daddy” video, directed by the notoriously raunchy photographer Terry Richardson, was so provocative that YouTube took it down, claiming it violates their policy on nudity or sexual content. (It’s still on Vimeo, where Richardson has a channel.)

Dancing and bikinis are nothing new to Upton. She became famous after a video of her doing the “Dougie” dance at an L.A. Clippers game went viral, and she appeared on the cover of this year’s Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.

Upton takes a crack at comedy in the Skullcandy ad, called “Take a Supermodel to Work.”

“Did you watch Space Jam?” she asks Oklahoma City stars Kevin Durant and James Harden. They ignore her until they visit her place of work, where she’s wearing, you guessed it, a bikini.

Kate Upton Not Dating Jets Quarterback

Kate Upton: Not Fit for Victoria’s Secret?

Gilbert Carrasquillo/FilmMagic(NEW YORK) -- You’d think 19-year-old Kate Upton – on the cover of the latest Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue – would be the toast of the town right now.  But the women who casts the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show said she’d never let Upton walk that coveted runway.

Sophia Neophitou told the New York Times that “we would never use” Upton because her look is “too obvious” to be featured in the high profile production.

“She’s like a Page 3 girl,” Neophitou said, referencing the busty, barely clad model featured in The Sun, a London tabloid. “She’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy.”

Upton’s rep didn’t immediately respond to ABC News’ requests for comment.
