Cops Probing 911 Calls Made from Katie Couric's Late Husband's Phone

Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- New York City police are investigating 911 calls made from a landline phone in Katie Couric's Manhattan home that is registered to her late husband.

Police sources tell the New York Daily News that the phone has dialed 911 at two in the morning every Tuesday for the past few weeks.  Officers have responded each time by visiting Couric's building.

The talk show host reportedly has reached out to New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, who promised her that his department would investigate the matter.

Police are looking into whether the calls are a case of "spoofing," a term used to describe the hijacking of a phone via a special device.

Couric referred to the incidents while taping her talk show Katie on Tuesday, which started late.  She explained to the audience that she'd received a disturbing call from an emergency operator that morning -- a response to an errant 911 call -- and that she couldn't sleep because of it.

Couric's husband, Jay Monahan, died of colon cancer in 1998.

Katie Couric to Interview Manti Te'o, Notre Dame Football Star Who Was Victim of Hoax

Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Katie Couric has scored the first on-camera interview with Manti Te'o for her syndicated daytime talk show, "Katie."

Couric will sit down with Te'o and his parents, Brian and Ottilia Te'o, who are speaking out for the first time and say they were also victims of the hoax. Their conversation will be broadcast on Thursday, Jan. 24.

The Notre Dame football star has claimed he is the victim of a hoax, after it was revealed that his girlfriend never existed, and her death was faked.

The story has raised a cloud of questions about who was involved, why the hoax was perpetrated and whether Te'o, runner-up for the Heisman Trophy this season, himself made up the story.

In an interview with ESPN's Jeremy Schaap last week , Te'o admitted a few mistakes in his own conduct, including telling his father he met "Lennay Kekua" in Hawaii even though his attempt to meet her actually failed. Later retellings of that tale led to inconsistencies in media reports, Te'o said, adding that he never actually met Kekua in person.

Te'o added that he feared people would think it was crazy for him to be involved with someone that he never met, so, "I kind of tailored my stories to have people think that, yeah, he met her before she passed away."

Te'o told ESPN's Schaap that he only learned for sure this week that he had been duped.

Now he and his parents will give Couric the full story.

Couric will preview exclusive content and her own original reporting across ABC News platforms, including "Good Morning America," "World News," "Nightline," and ABC News Radio.

Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban to Judge "American Idol," Says Katie Couric

Jason LaVeris//FimMagic(NEW YORK) -- Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban been added to the American Idol judging panel, according to Katie Couric.

In an interview with former Idol judge Jennifer Lopez scheduled to air on Katie today, the daytime talk show newcomer confirms speculation that the hip-hop star and country crooner are joining Fox’s reality singing show. She also reveals that original judge Randy Jackson is staying.

An excerpt of Couric’s conversation with Lopez was sent to reporters earlier today:

KC: What do you think about the new group of judges?
JL:  Did they announce?
KC: Yeah.
JL:  Who is it?
KC: Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy [Jackson]. Randy’s back.
JL:  Randy is! Oh thank god. I love Randy. I’m glad he’s doing it.
KC: What do you think of that group? That’s sort of interesting, don’t you think?
JL:  That’s an eclectic group.
KC: Yeah!
JL: Yeah it is.
KC: I’m glad. I think it will be fun to have Keith Urban there.
JL: I think they all have something really different to offer so it should be interesting.

In response, a representative for Fox told ABC News, “Please note that the only confirmed judge for American Idol is Mariah Carey.  No other judges have been announced at this time.” Other sites have reported that the network was planning on officially announcing the new Idol panel by the end of the week.

This is the third season of The Voice, but the first to air during the fall.

Here are the top 10 primetime programs for the week of Sept. 3-9, according to the Nielsen Company:

Beyonce on Why She Won't Reveal Due Date: 'It's Safety'

Jemal Countess/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Though various reports have put Beyonce's due date at somewhere between this month and February, the star herself isn't saying -- and it's a conscious decision on her part.  Speaking to ABC's Katie Couric for Friday's edition of 20/20, Beyonce explains, "The truth is, it's safety.  I just want to make sure I can have a peaceful day.  And I want to make sure my child is protected."  She also refuses to reveal the baby's sex, and won't express a preference either, telling Couric, "I don't care...I'm just like everyone else.  And now I know why people say that, it's true.  I just want [a healthy baby]."

Beyonce also discusses her decision to announce her pregnancy on stage on the MTV Video Music Awards back in August by unbuttoning her jacket and rubbing her belly.  "Physically I was starting to show, so it was only a matter of days before someone zoomed in," she explains.  "So I just wanted it to be from me...and I didn't want to release a picture or a statement.  I figured the biggest statement was to -- just be."  Beyonce adds that she felt "free" after the big reveal, and adds, "I went straight off the stage and just cried.  I hugged my mom, I hugged [my husband] Jay[-Z] and just cried.  It was a beautiful day."

Overall, Beyonce says that her baby's arrival "just can't come fast enough," and she says even though everyone tells her to enjoy the time she has before all those sleepless nights, "I'm still anxious.  I just want to hold the baby!"  After that, Beyonce says, she'll have to take some time off to regain her fierce bod.  "I'm not looking forward to that, because I've been having a good time!" she laughs.

Watch the entire interview Friday on ABC's 20/20 at 10 p.m. ET.
