Man Booted from Kenny Chesney Concert for Looking Like Singer

WKRN-TV (NASHVILLE, Tenn.) -- The Nashville, Tenn., man who was kicked out of Kenny Chesney’s Saturday night concert in the Music City for looking too much like the country-music singer says the resemblance is out of his control.

“I can’t help the way I look,” Nathan Blankenship told ABC affiliate WKRN-TV in Nashville.

Blankenship was dressed similar to Chesney, wearing a sleeveless shirt and straw cowboy hat, and he says people sometimes say he looks like the star.

Security at the concert venue, LP Field, claims Blankenship was causing a disturbance among fans who thought they were seeing Chesney in the audience. Security personnel escorted Blankenship out of the stadium as a result.

“I think the way they handled it made it seem worse, like they were really escorting Kenny Chesney through the crowd,” he said.

It seems Blankenship has been through this kind of thing before. An official at LP Field says Metro Nashville police knew about Blankenship’s looking like Chesney, 44, before the concert began.  Country stars at previous Nashville concerts have apparently spotted Blankenship in the crowd and thought he was causing a similar disturbance.

Blankenship is also upset about having to give up his $200 concert ticket to the show. Chesney’s camp released a statement Monday saying it didn’t know about Blankenship’s getting kicked out of the concert until it was reported in the media.

Concert promoter Kate McMahon of the Messina Group says they are reaching out to Blankenship to remedy the situation.

Kenny Chesney's Tenn. Home Broken Into By Woman

Rick Diamond/Getty Images(FRANKLIN, Tenn.) -- A detailed plan by a California woman claiming to be the girlfriend of country music superstar Kenny Chesney ended in her arrest inside the singer’s Franklin, Tenn., home, according to police.

Melissa Carol Mansfield of Murrieta, Calif., was arrested around 2 a.m. Wednesday in a bathroom near the swimming pool of Chesney’s home just outside of Nashville, Williamson County authorities said.

Police say Mansfield had been drinking wine and smoking cigarettes by the singer’s pool.

“[The] corporal was looking around the perimeter and found her in a restroom,” Williamson County Sheriff’s Deputy Hugh Tharpe told Nashville affiliate WKRN. “She had at least one if not two bottles of wine with her.”

Mansfield, police say, traveled to Nashville from Knoxville on a Greyhound bus.  She then upgraded to a limousine to arrive in style at Chesney’s home, about 25 miles away from the Nashville bus station.

Once there she got around the gate and inside Chesney’s mansion, but was caught when the home’s alarm system alerted deputies to an intruder.

Chesney was not home at the time of the incident, both his publicist and Williamson County Sheriff’s officials confirmed.

It is not known where Chesney, just nominated for nine Academy of Country Music awards, was at the time of the intrusion.  He is scheduled to begin his Brothers of the Sun tour with Tim McGraw on June 2 in Florida.

The Knoxville native purchased the more than 11,000 square foot home in 2010 for just over $9 million.

Mansfield was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and criminal trespassing.

She was released from jail after posting a $1,000 bail.  She will next appear in court on Feb. 23.

Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band Announce 2011 Joint Stadium Shows

Photo Courtesy - BNA Records(NEW YORK) -- Kenny Chesney has announced nine stadium shows for his 2011 Goin' Coastal tour.  Zac Brown Band will co-headline with Chesney for these dates starting March 19 in Tampa, Florida.

Tickets for certain dates start going on sale Nov. 20th.  More arena and amphitheater dates will be announced soon.  Billy Currington is also on the bill for these shows.

In an effort to keep tickets affordable for fans, Chesney is pricing at least 7,000 tickets at $25 each for most of the stadium shows.

Planning for such a massive show doesn't just happen overnight. Chesney says, "To present it the way we do it when we go out on tour, you can't just make that up in January and then decide to go do it." The singer already knows what his stage will look like and what images he'll display on the massive video screens during his songs.

Chesney admits that he's getting more and more anxious as the new tour approaches, but he's ready to get back into life on the road. "It is a little bit of the same kind of grind," he says, "but it's a grind that I want now."
