Kristin Bell and Dax Shepard Expecting a Baby

Eric Charbonneau/WireImage(BURBANK, Calif.) -- Kristen Bell and her fiance, Parenthood star Dax Shepard, are expecting their first child together.  Shepard confirmed the good news Monday night on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

The couple got engaged in 2009, but they won't be rushing down the aisle now that a baby is on the way.

In an interview with The Advocate this past February, Bell, 32, explained why the couple is reluctant to tie the knot: "The reason we're not rushing to get married is because I don't feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that's denied to my [gay and lesbian] friends.  That's why we've been so hesitant."

The actress told the magazine, "Dax and I have talked about it a lot, and this issue is very important to both of us.  We're just standing up for what we believe in.  Period."

There's no word on the baby's due date.

Stars Raising Money for Charity with Words With Friends Celebrity Challenge

ABC/RON TOM(NEW YORK) -- Eva Longoria, Jonah Hill, Kristen Bell, Edward Norton, John Legend and Snoop Dogg have signed up to participate in the first-ever Words With Friends Celebrity Challenge.

The social gaming company Zynga, American Express and the fundraising website CrowdRise have recruited the stars and other celebrities to help raise money for various charities.

Fans can join a celebrity’s team to help raise money for a charity of the star’s choosing.  Gameplay kicks off Thursday and runs through Oct. 3.  At stake is a chance to win a slice of $500,000 for charity.  Winners will be announced on Oct. 4.

By joining the game, participants earn points when they play as many words as possible on the Words With Friends game during the team tournament.  The higher the team's rank, the more money it earns for its chosen charity.  Fans who enter at least five words are automatically entered in the "Play a Celebrity Sweepstakes" to play a game against their team's celebrity leader.

Longoria will be raising money for her self-named foundation which fosters entrepreneurship among Latina women, while Hill and Bell will be working to benefit Harlem Grown, which raises money for the New York City parks and education departments.

Legend will be raising money for his Show Me Campaign, which fights poverty, while Snoop Dogg will be earning money for his Snoop Youth Football League.

“Zynga knows a thing or two about social gaming, and it's awesome to see them using that knowledge to engineer impact,” says Norton, who founded CrowdRise.

Players can download the gaming app for free on Android and Apple smart phones and Apple's iPad, iPod and iPod touch.

Kristen Bell’s Emotional Meeting with a Sloth

Eric Charbonneau/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) -- Kristen Bell has a strong emotional attachment to sloths. A very strong emotional attachment.

Appearing Tuesday on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Bell recalled how her fiancé, Parenthood actor Dax Shephard, surprised her for her 31st birthday last summer by giving her a gift that he said “no one else will ever get in their lifetime.” It turned out to be a sloth delivered to their home. The presence of the mammal overwhelmed Bell so much, she says, that she had a panic attack and cried hysterically on her bed. She even proved it by showing video of the moment that was shot by Shepard.

DeGeneres decided to tease Bell by joking that she had a sloth waiting for her backstage. The joke made the House of Lies actress tear up, but she otherwise had a sense of humor about it.

Bell stars in the new movie Big Miracle, opening Friday.
