Lee DeWyze Debuts Unexpected First Single

Photo Courtesy - RCA Music Group/19 EntertainmentLast week, Lee DeWyze announced he would debut his first single, "Live It Up," on Ryan Seacrest's radio show on Wednesday.  He debuted his first single as scheduled, but it wasn't "Live It Up," it was a different song called "Sweet Serendipity."

DeWyze explained to Seacrest that while people who'd heard "Live It Up" liked it, they felt that "Sweet Serendipity" was the song on his album that really "stuck out," so they went with that instead.  The song will be available for download on Oct. 26.

"Sweet Serendipity," which DeWyze said was about "running into good luck by accident," is reminiscent in feel to Kris Allen's "Live Like We're Dying."

Lee DeWyze Announces Album Title, First Single

Photo Courtesy - RCA Music Group/19 RecordingsIn a departure from past seasons, the debut album from American Idol champ Lee DeWyze will not be self-titled.  Instead, the album, due out Nov. 16, will be called Live It Up.  The first single, also called "Live It Up," will debut on Ryan Seacrest's radio show on Oct. 13.  DeWyze has also revealed the artwork for the album cover.

In a statement, DeWyze said, "Putting out an album on a major label is truly a dream come true. I’m excited for all the people who supported me throughout Idol to hear what I can do with my own songs. The album shows a whole different side of me and I’m so proud of it."

DeWyze, who co-wrote most of the songs with professional writers, describes the album's sound as "hard-edged vocals over pretty melodies."
