Former Child Star Rick Schroeder: Someone Should Help Amanda Bynes

Photo by Jason Merritt/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Few people understand the pressures child stars experience more than Rick Schroeder, who starred on the popular ’80s series Silver Spoons when he was just a teen, and he has advice for troubled starlets Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Bynes.

“My heart goes out to them,” he told ABC News Now on Tuesday. “I wish some people would intervene on their behalf.”

Lohan, 26, checked in to the Betty Ford Center on May 3 for a three-month rehab stint stemming from misdemeanor charges.

Bynes, 27, was arrested May 23 after allegedly throwing a bong out of her apartment window, and has since gone on tirades against the NYPD, pop star Rihanna, and others on Twitter.

“They are in a place right now that is not good,” Schroeder, 43, added. “A lot of people around them don’t care about them and want to capitalize on it. I feel bad for them.”

Lindsay Lohan Won't Face Charges in NYC Nightclub Altercation

ABC News(NEW YORK) -- Lindsay Lohan will not face criminal charges in New York City stemming from an alleged nightclub altercation last November.

It's a rare bit of good legal news for the troubled actress, who earlier this month agreed to three months in mandatory rehab as part of a deal with prosecutors in Los Angeles. There, she faced charges that she lied to police about whether she was behind the wheel in a June car crash that sent her to the hospital briefly.

The New York City case involved an alleged altercation between Lohan and a woman named Tiffany Mitchell at Club Avenue in Manhattan.

A law enforcement source tells ABC News that nightclub video which purported to show the altercation was inconclusive.  The source adds that despite a thorough investigation, there were not enough eyewitness accounts to bring a case.  Furthermore, the source says, Mitchell fell outside the club as she was being escorted out by police, and the fall may have been the source of her injuries, not the alleged altercation.

The Manhattan District Attorney's office declined to comment on the case.

In a statement, Mitchell's lawyer, Gloria Allred, left the door open to a potential civil suit against Lohan, saying, "Ms. Mitchell is considering all of her legal options in the civil justice system because of what she suffered that night."

Lindsay Lohan Due in Court Monday in Car Crash Case

Stefania D'Alessandro/Getty Images for amfAR(LOS ANGELES) -- Lindsay Lohan's trial in her car crash case is set to begin Monday morning in Los Angeles, after plea deal talks reportedly broke down last week.

Lohan faces misdemeanor charges, including lying to police, in connection with a collision between her Porsche and a dump truck on the Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica, Calif., last June.  Her probation stemming from a 2011 necklace theft case was revoked as a result of the charges related to the car crash.

According to TMZ.com, the Mean Girls star had boarded a Los Angeles-bound flight at New York's JFK Airport Sunday night so she can appear at the hearing in person.  However, she left the plane before takeoff, with sources telling the website she believed that fuel was leaking from it.  It turns out that the plane was diverted to Las Vegas after takeoff.

At last word, Lohan was trying to arrange for a private plane to take her to L.A.  TMZ says if she doesn't appear at the hearing, a bench warrant will be issued.

She could face up to eight months in jail for the probation violation.

Report: Lindsay Lohan Plea Deal Talks End with No Agreement

Mark Boster-Pool/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- Any chance of Lindsay Lohan reaching a plea deal in her car crash case in advance of next week's trial has apparently vanished.

According to TMZ.com, prosecutors have ended plea deal talks because the Mean Girls star was opposed to any agreement that would result in punishment.  The website has reported in the past that Lohan was offered a deal that would allow her to avoid jail and instead spend time in rehab.

The trial is set for Monday in California.  Lohan faces misdemeanor charges, including lying to police, in connection with a collision between her Porsche and a dump truck on the Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica last June.  Her probation stemming from a 2011 necklace theft case was revoked as a result of the charges related to the car crash.

Charlie Sheen Wants to Be Lindsay Lohan's Mentor

Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) -- Charlie Sheen wants to help Lindsay Lohan get her life back on track, and he thinks he's just the guy to do it.

Sheen tells TMZ, "I have a kinship with somebody who clearly needs a mentor, whether she wants one or not. She can continue to hang out with her dress-shredding club buddies, or turn to me for some advice from a guy who's been down the road as well as every other side trail on the journey."

He adds, "If she listens, she'll win.  If she doesn't, that's on her."

Sheen and Lohan became friends while working together on Scary Movie 5, which is due out in April.  Sheen even wrote Lohan a $100,000 check last year to help her with her tax problems.  Now, Lohan is set to appear as herself on an upcoming episode of Sheen’s FX sitcom Anger Management.

Some may think there's an ulterior motive to Sheen's generosity, but he claims that he has never hooked up with Lohan.

He says, "I love her, I respect her, and I've never laid a finger on her that wasn't on film.  How ya like me now, America?"

Despite Sheen's kindness, sources tell TMZ that Lohan doesn't want him as a mentor.

Could Lindsay Lohan Avoid Jail Time by Going to Rehab?

Kevin Mazur/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) -- Lindsay Lohan could reportedly avoid jail time in her car crash case if she goes to rehab, but it seems she isn't willing to take that deal, TMZ is reporting.

The Mean Girls star faces misdemeanor charges, including lying to police, in connection with a collision between her Porsche and a dump truck on the Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica, Calif., last June.

TMZ has also reported that Lohan's breath smelled of alcohol at the time of the accident, and that a bottle of alcohol was found next to her car.

According to TMZ.com, Santa Monica prosecutors on Wednesday were prepared to offer Lohan a plea deal under which she'd avoid jail but have to spend 60 days in rehab, attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, and perform community service.

The gossip site said prosecutors and Lohan's lawyer, Mark Heller, negotiated over the phone Wednesday, and that the rehab stint could be as little as 30 days.

However, Lohan is reportedly not budging.  Sources tells TMZ that the actress feels going to rehab would be "punishment for something I didn't do."

If the negotiations fail, a trial could begin as soon as March 18.

Meanwhile, Lohan has a hearing scheduled for this Friday in California in her probation violation case.  Her probation stemming from a 2011 necklace theft case was revoked as a result of the charges related to the car crash.

Heller tells E! News that Lohan is expected to appear in person at the hearing.  He claims that the actress has experienced an "epiphany" and that she's been "traumatized" by all of her legal woes.

Heller last Friday filed court documents requesting a "continuance" in the probation violation case, as well as the dismissal of the charges in the car crash case.  In a letter accompanying the documents, the attorney said Lohan wants to give inspirational talks at schools and hospitals, and establish a foundation benefiting young people.

Yet another case, involving Lohan's alleged physical altercation with a psychic at a New York City nightclub last November, is still pending.

Lindsay Lohan Wants to Give Inspirational Talks

ABC News(LOS ANGELES) -- Last Friday, Lindsay Lohan's lawyer requested a "continuance" in the actress' probation violation case, suggesting that she can use the time to engage in charitable endeavors as well as activities that will "benefit her."

What did Lohan have in mind, exactly?  According to a letter included in the court documents that was obtained by E! News, the attorney says the Mean Girls star is open to participating in public service announcements, and visits to schools and hospitals where she can give "inspirational talks."  She is also considering establishing a foundation to benefit young people, the attorney says.

As for benefiting herself, Lohan "will gladly be participating in intensive psychotherapy" and "submitting herself to regular screenings."

The documents also request the dismissal of the misdemeanor charges Lohan faces in connection with a car crash on the Pacific Coast Highway in California last June.  She is accused of falsely claiming she wasn't behind the wheel of the car when it collided with a dump truck in Santa Monica.

A hearing regarding the requests is scheduled for Friday.

Lindsay Lohan to Guest Star on Charlie Sheen's "Anger Management"

Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) -- It appears Charlie Sheen really likes helping out Lindsay Lohan: she will make a guest appearance as herself in an upcoming episode of Sheen's FX sitcom, Anger Management, according to Entertainment Weekly.

On the show, Lohan reportedly becomes a patient of Sheen's anger management therapist character, and develops a romance with him.

The appearance can only boost Lohan's career, which has suffered setbacks from her ongoing legal woes, and from bruising reviews for her telefilm Liz & Dick.

Last year, Sheen reportedly gave Lohan $100,000 to help cover her tax debt, and just last week he reportedly offered to pay half for a glitzy gown the troubled star later reportedly ruined after a charity event.

The Mean Girls actress and Sheen co-star in Scary Movie 5, due out in April.

Away from the cameras, Lohan still has a couple of legal headaches to deal with.  She faces misdemeanor charges, including lying to police, in connection with a car crash on the Pacific Coast Highway in California last June.

TMZ.com is reporting that Lohan's lawyer has filed a motion to seek dismissal of the charges on the grounds that she wasn't read her Miranda rights when she was questioned by authorities after the accident.  However, the website argues it was not necessary for her to be Mirandized because she hadn't been placed in custody.

Lohan is accused of falsely claiming she wasn't behind the wheel of the car when it collided with a dump truck in Santa Monica.

According to E! News, the court documents also seek a "continuance" in Lohan's probation violation case, proposing that she participate in "certain activities" that will allow her to contribute to society, such as charitable endeavors.

A source says, "She's finally made a decision to turn her life around."

Lohan's probation stemming from a 2011 necklace theft case was revoked as a result of the charges related to the car crash.

Another case, involving Lohan's alleged physical altercation with a psychic at a New York City nightclub last November, is still pending.

Report: Lindsay Lohan in Tax Trouble Again

ABC News(LOS ANGELES) -- After being on record as blowing off federal tax tabs for 2009 and 2010, TMZ reports Lindsay Lohan now has problems getting her financial house in order with the State of California.

The gossip website, citing state records, reports Lohan owes the Golden State more than $56,000 in unpaid income tax for the year 2011.

According to TMZ, Lohan owed more than $93,000 to the IRS for taxes in 2009 and more than $140,000 for the tax year 2010.  The website reports Lohan was able to clear the 2009 tax debt, thanks to a $100,000 gift from Charlie Sheen.

The 2010 federal debt is reportedly still outstanding, and after it took Sheen going public about Lohan's less-than-grateful response to his previous gift, it's doubtful he'd be inclined to pony up this time.

Lindsay Lohan Ruins Borrowed Dress: Report

Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic(NEW YORK) -- Lindsay Lohan reportedly tore it up at a club after attending an event for amfAR — the American Foundation for AIDS Research — in New York City on Feb. 6.

A source told Us Weekly that Lohan tore a lengthy, beaded gown her stylist had borrowed from designer Theia Couture for the amFAR event.

“She said that the dress had ripped [at a club after the fundraiser] — she couldn’t possibly wear it like that — so her stylist friend went to the club bouncer and requested some scissors to repair the torn part of the dress,” the insider said.

“She turned it into a mullet! Only a fashiony person would do that!” the source added.

Us Weekly has posted before and after pictures of the dress, which was valued at $1,750. When Lohan wore it to the amFAR event, it was long enough to reach the floor. But another photo shows that the dress had been cut to half its normal length.

“The dress was loaned in good faith to Phillip Bloch, Lindsay Lohan’s stylist,” a representative for Theia Couture said in a statement to ABC News. ”We were informed by Mr. Bloch’s assistant that the dress was damaged during the course of the evening. The dress has not been returned, and it wasn’t until we saw the photos in the media, that we became aware of the actual condition of the gown.”

A representative for Lohan did not immediately respond to request for comment.

The magazine previously reported that Charlie Sheen offered to chip in for payment of the dress on Lohan’s behalf before his Scary Movie 5 co-star borrowed it.
