Regis Philbin's Connecticut Home Could Be Yours for $3.8 Million

Andrew H. Walker/FilmMagic(GREENWICH, Conn.) -- As Regis Philbin prepares to say goodbye to his morning talk show, "Live," at the end of the year, the television icon is also looking to unload some real estate.

Philbin has put one of his two Greenwich, Conn., homes on the market for $3.8 million, according to Zillow.com.

The French colonial, which Philbin purchased 20 years ago, sits on 6 acres and boasts four bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a tennis court, pool and gazebo. The veteran host, 79, first tried to sell the property in 2008 for $5.9 million, according to the Wall Street Journal, but couldn't find a buyer because of the dip in the market.

Report: Regis Philbin in Talks for New Show

Stephen Lovekin/FilmMagic(NEW YORK) -- Regis Philbin announced earlier this year that he’ll be leaving his longtime talk show, Live with Regis and Kelly, in November, but he apparently isn’t quite ready to retire.

The New York Post reports Philbin has been in preliminary talks with syndicators, including Sony and Oprah Winfrey’s company, Harpo, about hosting a new daytime show similar to Live, but with more news coverage.  Harpo denies meeting with Philbin, and reps for Sony haven't commented.

The Post quotes a source as saying Kelly Ripa is upset about Regis returning to TV with a new show because it would compete directly with hers.

Report: Regis Philbin Will Bow Out in November

Photo Courtesy - Stephen Lovekin/ FilmMagic(NEW YORK) -- Regis Philbin will retire from Live! with Regis and Kelly in November, not August, as initially announced.

Philbin had mentioned last month that ABC wanted him to hang around until November sweeps to say goodbye -- and Crain's New York Business has confirmed that's going to be the case -- in an effort to boost ratings by prolonging and promoting Philbin's sign-off.

The iconic TV personality made a surprise announcement last month that he will leave the show after 28 years.  It was later reported that he made the decision in part because Live! producers insisted he take a pay cut to stay on.

Philbin turns 80 on Aug. 25.

Regis and Mary Hart Not Retiring

Photo Courtesy - Stephen Lovekin | FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) -- Regis Philbin and Mary Hart are both leaving their longtime jobs as the hosts of Live! With Regis and Kelly and Entertainment Tonight, respectively, but they're both firm in their plans not to retire from showbiz. "Regis doesn't want to use the R word -- retirement -- and neither do I," Hart tells The Hollywood Reporter. "I want to do something different. It may not be on television." Hart says when she caught up with Philbin on Tuesday, they even reminisced about when they worked together for a short time on a 1981 morning variety series on NBC.

Philbin told the Hollywood Reporter he hasn't decided when to leave Live! With Regis and Kelly. He says he'll hang it up either at the end of August, or as the network prefers, at the end of November sweeps.

Mary Hart's final ET sign-off will be May 25. "I am not looking forward to that last day," she explains. "How do you say goodbye to an audience and to my family at ET?"

Report: Regis Philbin Quit Over Mandated Pay Cut

Photo Courtesy - Stephen Lovekin/ FilmMagic/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- More details are emerging after last week's surprise announcement that Regis Philbin is quitting Live! With Regis & Kelly.

According to TMZ, Philbin didn't leave because he wanted to -- he was angry over a pay mandatory cut in his new contract, and even angrier that his agent of 30 years let it happen.  The 79-year-old reportedly makes around $20 million a year, according to the gossip site, which reported producers sought the pay cut due to Live's declining ratings and Philbin's frequent days off.   Philbin fired his agent shortly afterward.

TMZ is also reporting -- contrary to its own initial reports -- co-host Kelly Ripa was actually "furious" Philbin told her about his decision 15 minutes before the show on which he made the announcement began.  "She felt it showed a total lack of respect for her," declared the source.

Regis Philbin Retiring After Nearly 25 Years

Photo Courtesy - Disney-ABC Television Group (NEW YORK) -- Veteran broadcaster Regis Philbin announced Tuesday that he will be retiring from the weekday talk show Live! with Regis and Kelly after nearly 25 years.

Philbin broke the news Tuesday morning at the top of his show.  He confirmed that though he's departing, the Live! franchise will continue.  The Disney-ABC Television Group plans to name a new personality to join Kelly Ripa, who has co-hosted the show for nearly ten years.

Philbin, 79, has been a television personality since the 1950s.  He's best known for the Live! talk show, which premiered in national syndication in 1988 as Live with Regis & Kathie Lee.  A three-time Emmy Award winner, Philbin was also honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in 2008.
