Maroon 5 to Guest Star on 'Top Chef Masters'

Dan Gorder/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) -- Maroon 5 will guest-star on the May 11 installment Top Chef Masters, Bravo's reality competition show that pits the world's most famous chefs against one another in a quest to earn money for their favorite charities.

The band will drop by and challenge the masters to create a "feast fit for a rock star" -- but they'll be forced to cook their meal in a "surprise location" other than a kitchen.  In the past, contestants on Top Chef Masters have often had to prepare meals in odd locations, such as a college dorm room with just a hot plate.

Maroon 5's appearance on the Bravo series may be the result of Adam Levine's new gig on The Voice.  Both NBC, which airs The Voice, and Bravo are owned by the same company.

Maroon 5's Adam Levine Joins Campaign to Prevent Teen Suicide

Photo Courtesy - A&M Octone RecordsMaroon 5's Adam Levine is the latest star to create a video in support of the "It Gets Better" campaign.

The campaign was started by writer Dan Savage in response to the rash of suicides among teenagers who were bullied due to their sexual orientation.  Its goal is to prevent suicide by having famous adults, both gay and straight, assure teens their lives will get better as they get older, even though things may seem bleak at the moment.

In his video, Levine agrees that he, too, hated high school, but tells kids, "If you can get through it, there is a whole world out there that exists beyond people treating you badly...there's a whole world beyond high school that is a lot better."

Addressing teens who are being bullied, he says, "Don't let them win....because it's such a terrible energy to spread."  To kids who are struggling, Adam says, "We support you, and we really do love you.  We've all been there before."

He finishes by saying, "Human beings treating each other like human beings is the most important thing on earth.  That's where it all starts. So we need to figure out how to do that."

Maroon 5 Kick Off New Tour Leg Wednesday

Photo Courtesy - A&M Octone RecordsMaroon 5 launched a summer tour before their album Hands All Over was even in stores.  Now that the album is out and people know the songs, the band is cranking up the tour again.  It kicks off Wednesday, Oct. 6 in Santa Barbara, California, and is scheduled to run through Oct. 29.

The first leg of the Hands All Over tour featured a diverse group of opening acts, from Owl City to American Idol champ Kris Allen to British soul singer V.V. Brown.  Opening acts for the new leg include OneRepublic and Bruno Mars.

Responding to why the band chose different opening acts, instead of just one, lead singer Adam Levine explains, "We love everything....we're not really very snobby when it comes to [musical] genre or things like that."  He adds, "At the end of the day, we like to be eclectic. We love music.  And that's first and foremost always gonna be the case."
