Melissa Gilbert Marries Timothy Busfield

@MelissaEGilbert/Twitter(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) --Wearing a red strapless gown, Melissa Gilbert exchanged wedding vows with “Thirtysomething” star Timothy Busfield in California on Wednesday.

The “Dancing With the Stars” alum confirmed the news on Twitter today, posting a picture of herself and Busfield in a field surrounded by flowers and telling fans, “Thanks for all the well wishes.”

Gilbert’s rep told People magazine that the couple tied the knot “in a private ceremony at San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara on April 24.”

San Ysidro Ranch has been the site of many famous weddings. Gilbert pointed out on Twitter that “Lawrence Olivier and Vivian Leigh were married &John and Jackie Kennedy honeymooned there!!”

Shunning traditional wedding white, the “Little House on the Prairie” star went for the bold scarlet-tiered strapless gown instead. Busfield chose a dark suit.

“The color spoke volumes,” she told People magazine. “Passion, fire, love: Red says all of those things to me.”

Still, the “Little House on the Prairie” star, 48, admitted that dress shopping was not an easy process.

“It was quite a search,” she said. “[But] the moment I saw it, I knew.”

And now, it’s something that she and Busfield, 55, will treasure forever.

“The dress will always hold our precious, precious memories,” she said.

Gilbert’s choice of color may have been because this is not her first time at the altar. A mother of two, Gilbert, 48, was previously married to Bo Brinkman and Bruce Boxleitner.

Busfield, 55, was also married twice before, and has three children.

The pair has reportedly known each other for two decades, before becoming engaged over the Christmas holidays.

'Dancing with the Stars' Recap: Melissa Gilbert & Roshon Fegan Eliminated

ABC (LOS ANGELES) -- So much for "happy birthday." On the day she turned 48, former Little House on the Prairie actress Melissa Gilbert and her pro partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, were eliminated from Dancing with the Stars Tuesday night.

Disney actor Roshon Fegan and his partner, Chelsie Hightower, also got the boot as part of the ABC series' double-elimination week.

That leaves four couples to battle it out in next week's semifinals: Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas, Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd, Maria Menounos and Derek Hough, and William Levy and Cheryl Burke.

Gilbert, the lowest-scoring celebrity on Monday's performance show, said it was a joyful birthday for her despite her elimination because she made it so far in the competition.

Fegan -- who was situated in the upper half of the leader board thanks in part to a foxtrot that earned him a score of 29 out of a possible 30 -- said he was happy he learned ballroom dancing moves.

Chris Brown was the musical guest on the results show, performing "Turn Up the Music." There was also a dancing tribute to the late Dick Clark.

Dancing with the Stars' semifinals round begins next Monday on ABC at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time.

Report: Rob Lowe's Book Hurts Melissa Gilbert

Mitchell Haaseth/NBC(LOS ANGELES) -- Did the romance between Rob Lowe and Melissa Gilbert mean more to her than it did to him?  Gilbert wrote extensively about her relationship with the actor in her 2010 autobiography Prairie Tale, but he barely mentions her in his new book, reports The former Little House on the Prairie star reportedly mentioned Lowe 77 times in her book, but Lowe only discussed her four times in his book, Stories I Only Tell My Friends.

In her book, Gilbert wrote at length about her on-again, off-again relationship with Lowe in the 1980s and her pregnancy miscarriage when they were together.  A friend of Gilbert's said Lowe's decision to slight her in his book has hurt her.

The source said, "She's devastated that someone who meant so much to her, someone who dominated her young life, doesn't think she was as important to him as her was to her."
