Nick Cannon Comes Clean on Kidney Disease

Kevin Mazur/WireImage(NEW YORK) -- Nick Cannon has admitted what really happened when he was hospitalized earlier this month with “mild kidney failure,” as his wife Mariah Carey put it.

“They thought it was kidney stones...then a kidney infection,” Cannon said on his New York City-based radio show. “They found out my kidneys weren’t functioning well.” He added, “We didn’t want to say ‘kidney failure’ so people would think I gotta get new kidneys and Gary Coleman and all that stuff, so we said ‘mild kidney failure.’”

Now he’s drinking a lot of water and has a, “couple more procedures” to go through. “Overall, I’m good,” he said. “I’m feeling 100 percent.”

Cannon was initially hospitalized in Aspen, Colo., on Jan. 4. He was later moved to a Los Angeles hospital.

Nick Cannon Home from Hospital After Kidney Failure

Kevin Mazur/WireImage(WASHINGTON) -- Nick Cannon is back home and ready to get back to work, one week after he was hospitalized for kidney failure while on a family vacation in Aspen, Colo.

The America’s Got Talent host and husband of Mariah Carey was released over the weekend from the Los Angeles-area hospital where he had been treated since last Thursday after being transferred there from Aspen.

The couple, married since 2008, had been vacationing in the ski resort town over the holidays with their infant twins, Moroccan and Monroe.

“He is resting and recovering at home and would like to thank everyone who has expressed concern, well wishes and prayers,” the actor’s rep, Tracy Nguyen, said in a statement released Monday evening.

Carey made headlines last Wednesday when she tweeted that Cannon had been hospitalized: “Please pray for Nick as he’s fighting to recover from a mild kidney failure,” along with a photo of herself lying in a hospital bed with Cannon.

Carey and Cannon have both relied on Twitter to keep fans updated on Cannon’s condition, but have yet to disclose his exact ailment.  It is known that Cannon underwent a procedure on Friday that did not require the actor to be sedated.
