Bethenny Frankel Reveals She Had a Miscarriage

Steve Mack/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Reality-television personality and entrepreneur Bethenny Frankel revealed that she had a miscarriage when she was eight weeks pregnant.

Frankel, a former star of The Real Housewives of New York City who is starring in her own reality-TV series, Bethenny Ever After, shared the news in an interview on NBC’s Today show Monday when asked whether she and husband Jason Hoppy plan to have a second child.

“I’m 41. … It’s a very personal question that I get asked a lot. We were pregnant with a second baby, and at eight weeks I miscarried, and that was a very emotional experience. It had a lot of different things that came with it,” Frankel said.

“Thinking about women who can’t have their own baby, even the first baby, I’m really lucky.”

Frankel is the mother of a 21-month-old girl named Bryn. Holding back tears in the interview, she said the miscarriage happened recently. Frankel added that it will not be dealt with on this season of her show, and went on to discuss the prospect of trying again to have a baby.

“It’s not really my option, and the window’s closing, and it’s something that I’m dealing with. …I’m not really thinking about it. I don’t know what my options are. I do have an incredible daughter. I feel like she’s perfect,” Frankel said.

Frankel rose to fame when she became one of the final contestants on The Apprentice: Martha Stewart and later by appearing on Real Housewives. She launched her diet-related company SkinnyGirl Cocktails in 2009, and subsequently released two SkinnyGirl books.

'19 Kids and Counting' Stars Name Unborn Child, Plan Memorial Service

TLC/Beth Hall(LOS ANGELES) -- Reality TV stars Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar plan to hold a memorial service for the child that would have been their 20th, had Michelle not miscarried last week during her second trimester of pregnancy, the couple announced.

The Duggars, stars of the TLC hit reality show 19 Kids and Counting, also revealed they’d planned to name their baby daughter Jubilee Shalom Duggar, in keeping with the family tradition of beginning all their children’s names with the letter ”J.”

According to a report in People magazine, the family plans to hold a memorial service for Jubilee this Wednesday for friends and family members. The family, the magazine reports, already held its own private service in its home Sunday night.

“We would like to thank everyone for their prayers, emails and outpouring of love,” Jim Bob wrote in a letter given to People.  “As our whole family is grieving, we also know that God promises to work all things for good in our lives. Our prayer is that Jubilee’s passing will help us all realize that this life is short, and our relationship with Jesus is the most important thing.”

The couple announced last week they had learned of the miscarriage during a routine doctor’s appointment.

“I feel like my heart broke, telling my children,” Michelle Duggar, 45, told People at the time. “They have all been so excited about this baby and looking forward to April coming around and having a new little one in our arms. That was the most difficult.”

Michelle Duggar was cared for by family members at home after the diagnosis, but was taken to a nearby hospital on Sunday after she reported feeling lightheaded.

A family spokesperson told People that she was expected to return to the family’s Tontitown, Ark., home on Monday.
