Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber Each Win Three Awards at MTV EMAs

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images via ABC(FRANKFURT, Germany) -- The spotlight was on Taylor Swift Sunday night at the MTV European Music Awards in Frankfurt, Germany.  She collected three trophies and performed her hit single, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."

Swift won the awards for best female, best live act and best look.  She entered the ceremony with five nominations.

Justin Bieber also received three trophies: best male, best pop and best worldwide stage act.  He didn't attend the event due to his ongoing U.S. tour, but Bieber -- whose breakup with Selena Gomez was reported over the weekend -- tweeted to his fans, "#grateful #smiling. thank you. alot of thoughts. but it is always us. thank you thank you thank you. love u."

Rihanna, who had six nominations, was shut out.

The EMAs, hosted by Heidi Klum, also featured performances by No Doubt and The Killers.

Lady Gaga Leads Award Winners at MTV's EMAs

Photo Courtesy - MTV Networks Europe(MADRID) -- Lady Gaga was the winner of three awards Sunday night at the MTV European Music Awards in Madrid, Spain.

Gaga, who along with Katy Perry entered the ceremony with a leading five nominations, received the prize for best song, for "Bad Romance," as well as best female and best pop honors.  She accepted her awards via a live message from Hungary, where she was performing in concert.

Perry received the award for best video, for "California Gurls." 

Linkin Park was named best live act over such nominees such as Kings of Leon, Muse and Bon Jovi.  Bon Jovi didn't go away empty-handed, though -- they received the MTV Global Icon prize.  Paramore received the best alternative award, while 30 Seconds to Mars earned best rock honors.

Other winners included Eminem, Ke$ha, and Justin Bieber, the latter of whom was awarded the best male and best "push act" prizes.

New Performers Added to MTV EMAs Lineup

Photo Courtesy - MTV Networks Europe(NEW YORK) -- The MTV European Music Awards lineup just got bigger, with the addition of Miley Cyrus, B.o.B. and Paramore's Hayley Williams.  B.o.B. and Williams will perform their smash hit "Airplanes" on the show, which takes place Nov. 7 in Madrid, Spain.

Also on the bill are Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Kid Rock, Kings of Leon, Linkin Park and Shakira.  Eva Longoria will host.

Bon Jovi to Receive Special Honor at MTV EMAs

Photo Courtesy - PRNewsFoto/MTV Networks International, Kevin Westenberg(NEW YORK) -- Bon Jovi will receive a very special at honor at this year's MTV European Music Awards, taking place Nov. 7 in Madrid.

Jon Bon Jovi and the guys will receive the Global Icon award, to recognize the fact that 25 years after they formed, they're still selling out concerts all over the world and releasing chart-topping albums.  This the first time the award has ever been presented.

Bon Jovi will also perform during the show, along with the likes of Katy Perry and Shakira.

Jon Bon Jovi says preserving the group's legacy is high priority for him.  He explains, "That, to me, is what it's about at this point.  Like it or not, we're one of the the biggest bands in the world, and our legacy is important to me.  I'd like to make sure that the way we leave it is timeless, and classic, and on point and true to what I set out to do."  He adds, "We work very hard at that."

Bon Jovi's Greatest Hits will hit stores Nov. 9.  In addition to all their biggest classics, it features a few new songs written specifically for the project, including the current single "What Do You Got?"

Justin Bieber Raps; Will Virtually Host MTV EMAs

Photo Courtesy - Island Def Jam Music Group(NEW YORK) -- Justin Bieber sings, dances and writes books, and now he's showing off a previously unheralded talent: rapping.  Bieber posted a video on Twitter that features him busting out a freestyle rap that he calls "Speaking in Tongues," because he's rapping over a song called "Speaking in Tungs" by Cam'ron and Vado.  A note posted under the video states that Bieber's "alter ego rap name" is Shawty Mane.

In his rap, he mentions his hairstyle several times and also gives a shout-out to Lady Gaga.  At the end, he stops rapping and says in his speaking voice, "I'm Justin Bieber. You guys might know me as the guy who sings 'Baby.' I'm a pop singer.  I'm white.  But I just wanted to do this to prove that I got skills on the rap game."

In other news, it's been announced that Bieber will be the "online host" for the MTV European Music Awards, which are taking place Nov. 7 in Madrid, Spain.  Since he's the online host, Bieber won't actually have to go to Madrid.  Instead, he'll be tweeting and interacting live with fans at

In a statement, Bieber said, "I'm so excited to have all my fans come and watch the show with me online. It'll be like one giant, global viewing party at my house!"

The show will be streaming live at and on Facebook starting at 9 p.m. Central European Time.  The stream won't work for U.K. residents, though.
