Delonte West Lands Furniture Store Job during NBA Lockout

Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) -- The NBA lockout has caused many players to join overseas leagues and has left others unemployed with extended summers. However, for former Boston Celtics guard Delonte West it has inspired him to take his talents from the basketball court to the showroom.

West tweeted this week that Regency Furniture Showrooms, a furniture chain in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., had hired him. West also posted photos from his first day on the job and a picture of his application.

This is not the seven-year NBA veteran’s first attempt at finding alternative employment. In August, he tweeted that he filled out an application at Home Depot and told TrueHoop’s Adam Reisinger that he also applied to Sam’s Club.

“I actually might have work with Sam’s (Club), BJ’s, selling knives,” West said. “That’s pretty cool too. I get a microphone and everything.”

Ron Artest Now Legally "Metta World Peace"

ABC/MICHAEL ANSELL(LOS ANGELES) -- Los Angeles Lakers star Ron Artest has legally changed his name to Metta World Peace. The name change became legal at 9 a.m. Sept. 16 after a delay caused by outstanding parking violations.

The process began late in June when he paid the $395 dollar fee required to file the request. However, it was delayed for several weeks to allow Artest to pay two very overdue traffic violations.

This name change will also come with a new drivers license and passport, but does not affect any other legal or binding agreements made when he was known as Ron Artest, including his multi-year, multi-million dollar contract with the Lakers, or his more recent agreement with the reality show Dancing with the Stars.

Perhaps the most observed change will be on his basketball jersey, which will reflect his name change. It is unclear how Dancing will handle the change.

In case there is any confusion, his first name is Metta, meaning loving-kindness in the Buddhist tradition, and his last name is World Peace.

He said he has considered the name change for years and always wanted World Peace as a last name, but did much research into finding the perfect first name to go alongside it.

Shaq Sex Tape Mentioned in Kidnapping, Robbery Case

Christian Petersen/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- A music promoter claims he was kidnapped and robbed by seven gang members who were allegedly on a mission to retrieve a sex tape involving former NBA player Shaquille O'Neal.

The alleged victim, Robert Ross, testified at a preliminary hearing this week that the gang members kidnapped him on the night of the Grammys in February 2008 and demanded that he return a reported sex tape featuring O'Neal.

O'Neal has not been named a defendant in the case. The spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office said that the sex tape doesn't actually exist.

"It was a bluff," spokeswoman Jane Robison told ABC News. "It was part of a financial dispute" between Ross and O'Neal.

Ross told O'Neal through a third party that he had a sex tape of the basketball player, Robison said. Two weeks later, Ross was allegedly robbed and kidnapped by members of the Main Street Mafia Crips Gang.

Ross was once a member of the same gang, but was working as a music promoter at the time of the altercation, prosecutors said. He reportedly referred artists to O'Neal's record label.

Ladell Rowles allegedly led six other gang members in tracking Ross down in West Hollywood, Calif., on the night of the Grammys. Ross was allegedly forced at gunpoint to drive his Rolls Royce to Rowles' home. Rowles allegedly asked Ross for the sex tape and stole his diamond chain, Rolex watch, diamond earrings, and $15,000 in cash, according to the criminal complaint.

Robison would not comment on whether investigators had interviewed O'Neal. Attempts to reach O'Neal were unsuccessful.

Ross testified that the he and O'Neal were friends and that the ball player used his home to bring women home for liaisons while he was still married to wife Shaunie O'Neal. Prosecutors claimed Monday that at one time Ross dated Shaunie O'Neal.

It's unclear if O'Neal has any connection to gang leader Rowles.
