Hollywood Stars Plan Costumes for Halloween

Christopher Polk/Getty Images for PCA(NEW YORK) -- It’s Halloween, and Hollywood celebrities are getting in the spirit. Whether it’s an organized party or just a family evening, there is fun being planned by these stars:

After being booted from Dancing with the Stars, Chaz Bono has Monday evening free, so he can get back to his tradition of watching The Exorcist with his girlfriend. He says, "It gets pretty crazy in our neighborhood, so we like to stay in."

Neil Patrick Harris and his partner, David Burtka, now have two extra reasons to have fun -- namely, their one-year-old twins, Harper and Gideon. The family will be doing a Peter Pan theme, with Neil as Captain Hook, David as Peter Pan, Harper as Tinkerbell and Gideon as Smee.  Harris jokes that since his kids "don't speak the English language yet, we can dictate what those costumes are, I think for this only one more year."

Actress Lauren Bittner, star of Paranormal Activity 3, ought to know a thing or two about being scary. She’s adamant, though, that she will keep things classy with a real traditional costume. No revealing nurse or devil outfits for her: "A lot of girls just use [Halloween] as an excuse to like dress sort of sexy, and that's not for me."

Former 'NSYNC singer Lance Bass is a self-confessed Halloween nut. He says that he has at least three costumes, and will be hosting a party at the famous Hollywood Forever Cemetery. He plans to dress as the dog from the FX show Wilfred. He adds that at another party he's "doing the whole K-Pop like Asian look, like club kid thing."

Emmy Awards to Air Sunday

Mathew Imaging/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) -- The 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards will air on Fox live from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles Sunday. Actress Jane Lynch, a nominee for her performance on Glee, will host the telecast.

Neil Patrick Harris hosted the broadcast two years ago and told ABC News Radio that the Friday before the ceremony is the toughest because it’s a dress rehearsal of the entire show and, as host, you have to do all of your comedy to an audience comprised of "30 crew members who are all busy writing things on notebooks."

The HBO period miniseries Mildred Pierce enters this year's edition of the Emmys with a leading 21 nominations, including acting nods for stars Kate Winslet, Melissa Leo and Guy Pearce.

AMC's Mad Men has the most nominations among scripted series, with 19. It's a contender for best drama, while stars Jon Hamm, Elisabeth Moss, John Slattery and Christina Hendricks all have a chance to pick up an acting Emmy. Mad Men's competition for best drama includes Boardwalk Empire, which has 18 nominations overall, as well as Game of Thrones, Dexter, The Good Wife, and Friday Night Lights.

ABC's Modern Family has more nominations than any other comedy series, with 17. The reigning best-comedy winner will oppose The Big Bang Theory, Glee, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock and The Office in that category on Sunday.

Neil Patrick Harris Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Christopher Polk/Getty Images for PCA(LOS ANGELES) -- Neil Patrick Harris received the 2,448th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday.  His star is located in front of the Frolic Room Bar, near the Pantages Theatre.

Harris, who first achieved fame by playing the titular teen doctor in the 1989-1993 TV series Doogie Howser, M.D., says he never expected to earn a star on the Walk of Fame because he thought it required a huge fan base that needed to raise a lot of money to make it happen.

The 38-year-old actor told ABC News Radio after the ceremony, "I didn't do any of that as far as I know....I'm just pleased as punch that they spelled my name right."

Harris currently stars in the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother, which returns for its seventh season on Monday.  He also appeared in the summer box office hit The Smurfs.
