Chris Brown and Rihanna Getting Back Together?

Jacopo Raule/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Despite hints of a possible reunion, Chris Brown and Rihanna kicked 2012 off separately with Brown planting a public smooch on model girlfriend Karrueche Tran at Las Vegas’ Pure Nightclub, according to the Las Vegas Examiner.

Almost three years after their highly publicized breakup, Brown and Rihanna stirred up speculation about a reunion on Twitter last week.  On Thursday, Brown tweeted “Love U more than u know!” to his nearly 6.7 million followers including Rihanna, who quickly tweeted back, “I’ll always love u #1LOVE.”

The exchange sparked rumors of a reconciliation bolstered by a Dec. 15 tweet by Brown’s mom, Joyce Hawkins: “HELLO LADY I MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU!!!!! YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!!”  Soon after, Rihanna tweeted “Miss+Love u 2.”

Brown was sentenced to five years of probation, six months of community service and one year of domestic violence counseling for assaulting Rihanna the night before the 2009 Grammy Awards.  The attack became public when a photo of the “Man Down” singer’s battered and swollen face was leaked to the press.

“The more in love we became, the more dangerous we became for each other,” Rihanna told Diane Sawyer on ABC News’ 20/20.

Rihanna, who hosted last year’s New Year’s Eve party at Pure, rang in 2012 at P. Diddy’s party in Miami.

“My year started SO right!!!” she tweeted.  “Thank you 4 makin 2011 an incredible year, filled with lots of laughs and tears…Memories made either way, that I’ll always cherish #1LOVE.”

Earlier in the night, Rihanna revealed her New Year’s resolution: “Same as the last 5yrs, lose weight, get a man, make mo $$! My resolution should be to find a new one tbh!”

Even if Rihanna and Brown are hoping for a hook-up, they’ll have to head back to court or wait for the court-mandated restraining order to expire in 2014.

Ryan Seacrest Ready to 'Get Chills' While Ringing in 2011

Photo Courtesy - Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- For the sixth year in a row, Ryan Seacrest will be welcoming in the New Year live from New York City's Times Square, as the host of ABC's Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest.  And Seacrest says his favorite part of the gig each year isn't the ball dropping, the confetti, or even all the big names who'll be performing on the show.  No, for Seacrest, it's that one special moment when he realizes that he's standing at the so-called "crossroads of the world."  He tells ABC News, "Every year, you're on the air...and then at midnight, you just stop talking, and you take in that atmosphere, and that environment, and you get chills, no matter how many times [you've done it]....[I get] chills every year."

Though Seacrest is in his sixth year as co-host of the show, and Dick Clark has been doing it for more than three decades, Seacrest says it never gets old.  He explains, "It's something both of us, I know, look forward to every year," saying that he likes "the notion of celebrating at the end of the year."  Seacrest explains, "I know it's been a tough year, the last few years have been difficult.  But to have a celebration, where everyone's in the same frame of mind, is special. And we enjoy hosting that."

This year's show features over a dozen music acts, including the ones who'll be performing in Times Square with Seacrest: Ke$ha, Taio Cruz, Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block.  Asked why artists always seem to jump at the chance to appear on New Year's Rockin' Eve, Seacrest says, "I think it's because Dick has created such an institution in this program,"  but adds, "It also has quite a draw.  You've got about 30 million people watching when that ball drops, and it's a fantastic platform, and a great place for them to celebrate."

One thing that Seacrest has had to learn over the past six years is how to stay warm on New Year's Eve -- since he's originally from Georgia and now lives in L.A., cold weather's not his thing. This year, the enormous snowstorm that recently paralyzed New York won't affect the show, and there's no precipitation in the forecast.  In fact, it'll be above freezing Friday night, according to weather reports.  Seacrest jokes that Dick Clark will be disappointed -- he claims that Clark "deep down inside hopes for some rain and some sleet and some snow to dump on me...so that I've paid my dues, if you will. He's got that type of sense of humor!"

Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest gets underway Friday night at 10 p.m. ET.
