Heated Nicki-Mariah Argument on "American Idol" Set Caught on Tape

Brad Barket/PictureGroup(LOS ANGELES) -- Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj have downplayed rumors that they haven't been getting along on the American Idol set.  But TMZ.com has posted video that strongly suggests the two aren't exactly the best of friends.

The video, shot during Idol auditions in Charlotte, N.C., on Tuesday, depicts an irate Minaj bickering with Carey.

Minaj is seen complaining, "I told them, I'm not f***in' putting up with her f***in' highness over there."

According to TMZ, there was another moment not captured on tape when Minaj threatened to "knock out" Carey.

The website MouthtoEars.com is reporting that Minaj walked off the set because Carey "kept making jabs at her" and cursing at her.  Things got so out of hand that producers ended auditions for the day, according to MouthtoEars.com.

TMZ says the war of words stemmed from a disagreement over a contestant's performance.

Carey on Tuesday evening tweeted, "whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy," but it's unclear if she was referring to the incident.

Nicki Minaj Dishes on "American Idol" Judges on "The View"

Jason LaVeris//FimMagic(NEW YORK) -- What feud?  On The View Monday, the newest American Idol judge, Nicki Minaj, said she enjoyed working with all of her fellow judges.

"I look up to all of them in my own way," Minaj insisted, singling out Mariah Carey.  The two have been the center of rumors that say the pop divas are at each others throats.

According to TMZ.com, Carey repeatedly interrupted Minaj when the latter began offering feedback to a contestant during auditions.  TMZ says Minaj countered by speaking loudly over Carey’s chatter.

The gossip website quoted a source as saying, “These girls just don't like each other.”

Minaj had nothing but praise for Carey while on The View, saying, "I worked with Mariah very early on in my career so I'm really grateful she gave me that look very early on.  And she's really, really funny."

The "harajuku barbie" was on the ABC daytime talk show to tout her latest business venture, a perfume named after debut studio album, Pink Friday

"As a little girl growing up in south side Jamaica, Queens, if anyone would've told me that I would have my own perfume one day and be able to inspire young black girls everywhere...I would've never believed it," Minaj said of her new fragrance, which will debut at Macy's on Sept. 24.

Minaj also shared that she was "mesmerized" the first time she saw a sketch of the perfume bottle, which looks like a bust of Minaj, including her iconic pink wig.

Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban to Judge "American Idol," Says Katie Couric

Jason LaVeris//FimMagic(NEW YORK) -- Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban been added to the American Idol judging panel, according to Katie Couric.

In an interview with former Idol judge Jennifer Lopez scheduled to air on Katie today, the daytime talk show newcomer confirms speculation that the hip-hop star and country crooner are joining Fox’s reality singing show. She also reveals that original judge Randy Jackson is staying.

An excerpt of Couric’s conversation with Lopez was sent to reporters earlier today:

KC: What do you think about the new group of judges?
JL:  Did they announce?
KC: Yeah.
JL:  Who is it?
KC: Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy [Jackson]. Randy’s back.
JL:  Randy is! Oh thank god. I love Randy. I’m glad he’s doing it.
KC: What do you think of that group? That’s sort of interesting, don’t you think?
JL:  That’s an eclectic group.
KC: Yeah!
JL: Yeah it is.
KC: I’m glad. I think it will be fun to have Keith Urban there.
JL: I think they all have something really different to offer so it should be interesting.

In response, a representative for Fox told ABC News, “Please note that the only confirmed judge for American Idol is Mariah Carey.  No other judges have been announced at this time.” Other sites have reported that the network was planning on officially announcing the new Idol panel by the end of the week.

Nicki Minaj: Romney Endorsement Was Sarcasm

Jason LaVeris//FimMagic(NEW YORK) -- Nicki Minaj may have mentioned GOP presidential challenger Mitt Romney in a verse, but she tweeted that President Barack Obama is the guy she'll tell her grandkids about.

President Obama told an Orlando hip-hop station Monday morning that he wasn't sure whether to believe Nicki was being serious when she rhymed, "I'm a Republican voting for Mitt Romney/You lazy b*****s is f*****g up the economy."  Obviously hip to Nicki's music, Obama noted that the YMCMB star "likes to play different characters, so I don’t know what’s going on there."

The president was referring to the fact that Minaj is known for adopting off-beat alter-egos as part of her act.  Among her alter-egos is the brash and British-sounding Roman Zolanski, who's popped up on several Minaj tracks.

And it turns out, the president had the right idea.  Nicki was certainly impressed, tweeting, "Ha! Thank you for understanding my creative humor & sarcasm Mr. President, the smart ones always do... *sends love & support*"

In addition to giving Mr. Obama props, Nicki added, "Awesome! Now I can tell my grandchildren that the 1st black President of the United States took the time to address a Nicki Minaj question."

Many people wondered whether Nicki was endorsing Romney when she rapped about him on Lil Wayne's recently released Dedication 4 mixtape.  Whatever the case, Obama said when it comes to celebrities he tends to pay less attention to any ribbing they give him.  "The truth is when it comes to music and movies, et cetera, Michelle and I just focus on who’s good," Obama concluded. "Look, I love Clint Eastwood movies, man."

Nicki Minaj Raps for Romney?

Jason LaVeris//FimMagic(NEW YORK) -- Actor-director Clint Eastwood might have some celebrity company this week with his allegiance to Mitt Romney. Rapper Nicki Minaj appears to endorse Romney’s presidential bid in a new rap song out this week.

Minaj recorded the verse in a guest appearance on the track “Mercy” on fellow rapper Lil Wayne’s mixtape Dedication 4, which was released online Monday.

“I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney/You lazy [expletive] is [expletive] up the economy,” Minaj says.

Born Onika Tanya Maraj in Trinidad and Tobago, the hip-hop star was raised in New York City and attended LaGuardia High School for music and the arts.

Her representatives did not respond to numerous ABC News requests for comment about what the lyrics mean or whether Minaj is registered to vote in the United States.

Rapper Talib Kweli chalked up Minaj’s latest political comments as a public relations stunt.

“I doubt Nicki seriously supports Romney,” he tweeted. “Her lyrics ain’t political. She just wants y’all to talk about her & she winning cuz it’s working.”

Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban Close to Deals with "American Idol": Report

Fox(NEW YORK) -- Rapper Nicki Minaj and country superstar Keith Urban may be nearing deals to take the vacant judges’ seats on American Idol, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

THR also said that Minaj and Urban have been in talks with the show for weeks, but Minaj’s involvement was a sticking point, since she has a lucrative endorsement deal with Pepsi, and Coke is a sponsor of American Idol.  But it appears those issues have been resolved, and that Minaj would earn $8 million for her participation on the show, in addition to an extra allowance for wardrobe, hair and makeup.

Urban, who’s married to Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman, has reportedly agreed to become a judge for a salary of $3 to $4 million. Mariah Carey, the only officially-announced judge, is said to be getting in the neighborhood of $18 million.

It’s still unclear if original judge Randy Jackson will hang on or become a mentor.  According to THR, if the show’s producers can find another judge for the right price, he might be moved off the panel.

In a related story,  E! News said Miley Cyrus is no longer in consideration for a spot on the show — reportedly, discussions with the star never got very far and she never seriously contemplated taking the job.

Report: Nicki Minaj Is '100% Confirmed' to Judge "American Idol"

MyPinkFriday.com(LOS ANGELES) -- Following a story in The Hollywood Reporter on Friday that Nicki Minaj was a strong candidate to join Mariah Carey behind the judges' table on American Idol, US Weekly is now reporting that it's a done deal.

Two sources confirm to US Weekly that Nicki is getting the job.  One insider says, "I'm not sure the deal is completely done yet, but yes, she is definitely doing it. A few more slight things to sign off on but it is happening."  Another source told the magazine that the rapper is "100% confirmed to judge American Idol."

So far, Fox has yet to comment on the report.  The Hollywood Reporter had initially stated that Nicki might have a problem landing the American Idol job because she has an endorsement deal with Pepsi, and Idol is sponsored by Coke.

Other names circulating in the American Idol rumor mill include Keith Urban, Enrique Iglesias, Pharrell Williams and Nick Jonas.

Miley Cyrus and More Being Considered as New "American Idol" Judges?

Kevin Mazur/WireImage via ABC(LOS ANGELES) -- It could be a big case of musical chairs for the American Idol judges' panel when the show returns next year.

Rumor has it that current star Jennifer Lopez may be leaving, and while former American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert has denied he's been in talks to serve as a judge, he admits to The Hollywood Reporter that he’d “be more than flattered to have that conversation."

Now, according to E! Online, several other celebrities are being “considered” by Idol bosses.

On the producer’s wish list, according to the report, are Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry and Black Eyed Peas members Fergie and will.i.am.

According to E! sources, it’s thought that Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler won’t commit to returning until they know who else is involved.

“No one has signed any contracts yet and producers are currently putting out feelers and setting up meetings to see who they can get,” says the insider.

Nicki Minaj Confesses to $50K a Month Accessories Habit

Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic(NEW YORK) -- It's safe to say that Nicki Minaj probably doesn't have any monetary concerns right now, thanks to the success of her album Pink Friday, not to mention her deal with OPI nail polish.  But is she spending her money wisely?  Well, she confesses to Vogue magazine, that at one time, she was spending $50,000 a month ... on accessories.

"Guiseppe, Versace, YSL and Fendi shoes," Nicki confesses. "And I bought tons of Vuitton bags. When you’re a young girl from Queens, you’re going to stock up on those bags.”   When it comes to clothes, though, Nicki isn't nearly so free with her cash.  "If I can combine designer things with other things, I’m a happy camper," she says.

Nicki says that unlike some stars, she doesn't plan to live high on the hog and not give anything back.  She tells Vogue that she has plans to start "an enormous foundation to nurture girls," adding, "They hang on my every word, so I tell them, go to school, be ambitious. The worst position is to be financially dependent on the man."  And even though Nicki tells Vogue that she sometimes imagines being a stay-at-home wife, cooking dinner for her husband in a "bikini and high heels," she says that in real life, "I could never be that girl!"
