(LONDON) -- Former Happy Days star Henry Winkler was awarded an honorary OBE -- Order of the British Empire -- Wednesday for his work with dyslexia in the U.K. Winkler was presented with the honor at the British embassy in Washington, D.C.
The Guardian reports the actor, who was diagnosed with dyslexia as an adult, has toured schools in the U.K. to talk about the learning disorder.
Winkler issued a statement on the embassy’s website, saying, “Receiving this honor is a very humbling experience.”
Non-British nationals can receive honorary awards conferred by Queen Elizabeth for their contributions to U.K. interests.
