(LOS ANGELES) -- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 managed to avoid getting tangled up in the fierce holiday competition and remained the No. 1 film in America, earning an estimated $50.3 million.
Disney's Tangled, which stars Mandy Moore as the voice of princess Rapunzel in the modern take on the classic fairy tale, came in second with an estimated $49.1 million.
Burlesque, the bawdy vehicle for pop stars Christina Aguilera and Cher -- who hasn't appeared on the big screen since 2003 -- survived a critical beating to earn $11.8 million over the weekend.
Also landing in the top 5 was Dreamworks' animated feature Megamind, which brought in $12,850,000 in its third week of release, and the Denzel Washington action film Unstoppable, which took another $11.7 million.
