Paula Abdul to Leave 'X Factor'

Jeffrey Ufberg/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) -- Paula Abdul is confirming multiple reports that she will not be returning to The X Factor next season.

Paula released the following statement: "Yes, it's true; I won't be returning to The X Factor next season.  I’ve learned through my longevity in this industry that business decisions often times override personal considerations.  Simon and I, along with Fox and Fremantle, have been communicating about this for a while now, and I have absolute understanding of the situation.  Simon is, and will remain a dear friend of mine and I’ve treasured my experience working this past season with my extended family at Fox and Fremantle. I want nothing more than for The X Factor to exceed ALL of their wildest dreams.  This truly has been a blessing and I am most grateful.”

As previously reported Fox has confirmed to ABC News Radio that both host Steve Jones and judge Nicole Scherzinger also will not be returning to the music talent show for a second season.

In a statement Mike Darnell, president of Alternative Entertainment for Fox said, "We love Paula.  She is a remarkable talent and we appreciate all of her contributions.  We're lucky that she is a part of the FOX family, and we look forward to working with her again soon."

Simon Cowell also released a statement thanking the outgoing judges and host.  "I want to say a massive thank you to Paula, Nicole and Steve for being part of The X Factor last year.  We had a lot of fun making the show together and importantly, we found some real talent and stars,"  Cowell said.  "You do develop friendships with the people you work with and Paula, in particular, is a very close friend and I expect to be working with her on another project in the near future."

Exclusive: Paula Abdul Wanted Me, Simon Cowell Says

Todd Williamson/WireImage(NEW YORK) -- Simon Cowell says that he and Paula Abdul “didn’t like each other” when they began together as judges on American Idol.

“I mean, the truth was, on the first two seasons, we couldn’t travel on the same plane together,” he told Barbara Walters for The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2011.  “We really disliked each other that much.”

He attributes the friction between them to “sexual tension…on her part.”

“You think…Paula Abdul wanted you?” Walters asked.

“A million percent,” he laughed.  “I considered it, but then I thought, I don’t think the after would be as good as the before.”

Cowell joked that he wouldn’t want to wake up in the morning with Abdul: “I’d let her stay for a few hours, but then it would have to be goodnight.”

Cowell has since hired Abdul as a judge on The X Factor, and says their relationship has changed for the better.

“We obviously like each other, and I think you can see that,” he said.

Paula Abdul Reveals Michael Bolton Was Her Babysitter

Jeffrey Ufberg/WireImage(NEW YORK) -- A babysitter singing a child to sleep is sweet, and Paula Abdul revealed on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live Monday that she got that special treatment when she was seven years old because her babysitter was none other than Michael Bolton.

He’s 58 now and she’s 49.

Paula told Kimmel that Bolton, who was using his real name Bolotin back then, was a teenager who had moved from Connecticut to Los Angeles to find fame and fortune. Bolton and his then-girlfriend were pals with Paula’s older sister when he was asked to babysit little Paula at her home in Los Angeles.

Paula remembers Michael not being a very attentive babysitter and recalls him spending most of his time jamming with musicians who lived in the building.

Paula told Kimmel she remembers hurting herself on a couch by jamming a pencil into her leg to get his attention and force him to drive her to the hospital. She said he would sing her to sleep but he would never help her with her homework.

Years later, after Paula gained fame as a choreographer, she told Kimmel she got a call from her agent saying Michael Bolton wants to hire her to choreograph his tour but he wants to know if she is the “same bratty Paula Abdul” he used to babysit.

Paula did end up choreographing his tour. Bolton joined the conversation via Skype from South Dakota and confirmed to Kimmel that he babysat Paula when she was a Brownie. Bolton said Paula has grown from a sweetheart little Brownie to a superstar.

Parents Group Filing Complaint over Pants-Dropping 'X Factor' Contestant

George Doyle/Stockbyte/Thinkstock(LOS ANGELES) -- Paula Abdul wasn't the only one who felt queasy over the male X Factor contestant who pulled his pants down on last week's series premiere.

The Parents Television Council says it is filing a formal broadcast indecency complaint with the Federal Communications Commission over the segment, in which Geo Godley dropped trou, causing Abdul to leave the set, audibly gagging.  The show censored Godley's midsection, so it wasn't made clear whether or not his genitals were exposed.

Regardless, the PTC argued in a statement, "If Godley performed his act in public, he would have been arrested.  But if he performs it in front of a Fox camera, his act is beamed via the public airwaves into every home in the nation."

It says X Factor producers chose to air the segment despite knowing "full well that children would be watching."

Godley himself has told E! News that he was wearing a G-string at the time and was not naked from the waist down.

Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul Promote 'X Factor'

Todd Williamson/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) -- Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul were together again on Friday, promoting their upcoming singing competition show, "The X Factor," to journalists at the Television Critics Association tour in Beverly Hills.

Abdul says Simon has changed a little since she last did a show with him.

"He's turned into a pussycat," she said.

Cowell told journalists he is ready to beat "American Idol."

"You don't enter something for the silver medal," he said. "You know, you do it because you want to be number one, and for the next few months we're going to throw everything at this to try and make it the best show on TV."

Report: Paula Abdul Refuses to Pay Agents for 'X Factor' Deal

Jeffrey Ufberg/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) -- Paula Abdul’s relationship with Simon Cowell undoubtedly helped her land a spot on the judging panel of Cowell’s new show, The X Factor, but it has reportedly caused problems for Abdul and her agents.

The Hollywood Reporter quotes sources as saying Abdul is refusing to pay a commission to her agents at United Talent Agency.  The report says Abdul believes she should not have to pay the industry standard 10 percent commission on her X Factor judging deal because it arose from her relationship with Cowell.

Abdul was a judge on American Idol alongside Cowell for eight seasons, and sources say Abdul claims that relationship predates her signing with UTA for representation.  The report says her X Factor deal is said to be worth between $2 million and $3 million a season.

The Hollywood Reporter says when Abdul learned Cowell was considering her for a judging job on The X Factor, she informed her agents that they would have to forgo their commissions on any deal if they wanted to continue to represent her.  The agency and Abdul declined to comment on the dispute.

United Talent Agency began representing Abdul after she quit American Idol in 2009.  The report says UTA got Abdul her Live to Dance gig at CBS, and that she paid commissions for that deal.

Paula Abdul Joins 'The X Factor' As a Judge

Jeffrey Ufberg/WireImage(NEW YORK) -- Simon Cowell has reunited with Paula Abdul, and not a moment too soon.

Fox confirmed Sunday that Abdul, who was a judge on American Idol alongside Cowell for eight seasons, has been named the fourth and final panelist on his new show, The X Factor.  Abdul, who's been rumored to be under consideration for the gig, had to report to work right away, since the first auditions involving the judges were taped Sunday in Los Angeles.

In a statement, Cowell said, "This show would never have been the same without Paula and I can't believe I am saying this -- I have missed her a lot, and I am thrilled she's on the show."

Abdul joked, "I'm...delighted and grateful to be sitting next to Simon again...but you might want to check back with me in a week or two!"

Cowell and Abdul are joined at the judges' table by British pop star Cheryl Cole and producer Antonio "L.A." Reid.

Earlier in the weekend, Fox announced that pop star Nicole Scherzinger and British TV personality Steve Jones will host The X Factor, which premieres this fall.

Simon Cowell Eyes Paula Abdul for 'X Factor' Judge

Jeffrey Ufberg/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) -- Simon Cowell has a couple of big names in mind for his judges' panel on The X Factor.

Aside from himself and the already-announced L.A. Reid, Cowell confirmed to that he wants British pop star Cheryl Cole on the panel. However, perhaps the biggest name who could join the show is Paula Abdul, his former colleague from American Idol. Abdul, whose CBS dance competition Live to Dance was canceled last February after just one season, is reportedly yet to begin negotiations with The X Factor. Talks between Cole and show producers are reprotedly ongoing.

Cowell says of Abdul, "I missed her the second she left the show. Always loved working with her even though she can be a pain. And I've been consistent about this. I don’t know what it is about her, but I've always clicked with her. You just have to get that chemistry, and she's right." As for Cole, he says Fox is "desperate" to bring her aboard.

The X Factor premieres in the fall on Fox.

Report: Paula Abdul’s 'Live to Dance' Canceled

Photo Courtesy - Jeffrey Ufberg/ WireImage(NEW YORK) -- CBS hasn't made an official announcement, but a source tells RadarOnline that Paula Abdul’s new reality competition series, Live to Dance, will not be renewed for a second season and the singer is “devastated” by the cancellation.

The report says Abdul spent the weekend in shock after being told by phone last Friday of CBS’ decision.

The source claims, “Paula kept hoping week after week that her show would pick up new viewers, but each week the ratings trailed off.”  The source says fewer than four million viewers tuned into last week’s season finale of Live to Dance, “way too few for CBS to keep Paula’s dream dance show alive.”

There are persistent rumors that Abdul is being considered for a judges' spot on former American Idol judge Simon Cowell's upcoming talent show The X Factor.  So far, however, the reports are nothing more than rumors.
