Alec Baldwin Tells David Letterman He Did Not Punch Photographer

FREDERIC J. BROWN/AFP/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Alec Baldwin insists he did not punch a New York Daily News photographer while picking up a marriage license in Manhattan earlier this week.

The 30 Rock star commented on his altercation with photographer Marcus Santos during an appearance on CBS' Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday.  Baldwin, claiming it was not his first run-in with the photographer, said he pushed Santos out of the way because, he alleged, Santos almost hit him in the face with the camera.

Baldwin maintained that he did not punch Santos, joking, "Had I punched him, I'd be in jail, then I would've pressed charges against him for assault, then we'd both be in the jail cell together, and then you don't want to know what would happen in the jail cell if we were together in the jail cell."

Baldwin also complained that unlike in past decades, Hollywood studios try to make money off of actors' failures.

Baldwin occasionally mixed in humor throughout the interview; he pulled down his pants while explaining how much weight he's lost, and David Letterman followed suit.

After he taped his Late Show appearance, Baldwin walked the red carpet of the premiere for his new movie, Woody Allen's To Rome with Love.

He told reporters, "There's a different part of the press, what I would call the illegitimate press, who, they have made an appointment for me that I wasn't aware of, and they come jumping out of the bushes to remind me about it.  And that's a problem."

The attorney who represents Santos says his client met with New York prosecutors and detectives Wednesday morning and that they are taking the case "very seriously."

Attorney Sanford Rubenstein also said, "Mr. Baldwin should be held criminally accountable for what he did.  There were witnesses, they are cooperating with the district attorney's office, as well as photos.  Pictures of the truth."

Baldwin obtained a marriage license for his impending nuptials with fiancée Hilaria Thomas.

According to the New York Daily News, Baldwin on Wednesday ran over the foot of an Inside Edition reporter while on a mountain bike.  He allegedly hit a Daily News reporter and photographer with the bike's handlebars, too.

Baldwin later tweeted, "I am told I ran over someone's foot on my bike today. I think it was that person who placed their foot under the wheel of my bike."

Justin Bieber Photog Scuffle Going to Prosecutors

Kevin Mazur/WireImage via ABC(LOS ANGELES) -- While detectives are continuing to investigate allegations of battery against Justin Bieber, the case is being referred to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, ABC News has learned.

According to ABC News’ Los Angeles station KABC, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department has forwarded the case to the DA’s Office for possible prosecution. Sheriff’s detectives have already interviewed the alleged victim and plan to interview witnesses, according to a department release. They have also requested an interview with the singer.

Just days before his scuffle with a photographer Sunday, Bieber learned some boxing moves from heavyweight champ Mike Tyson himself.

A video of Bieber getting a lesson from Tyson has gone viral on YouTube. Tyson also posted a of him posing with the singer before they started training.

It’s not clear whether Bieber used some of the moves he learned on a photographer who was trying to snap pictures of the singer and his girlfriend, actress Selena Gomez. But now, the teen pop singer is being investigated for battery, according to ABC News Los Angeles station KABC.

Police tell ABC News that Bieber has still not come forward for questioning after the alleged knock-down blow-up that left the singer without a shoe and his girlfriend picking up his hat.

The photographer, who has not been identified, said Bieber struck him in the face as the couple exited a shopping center in Calabasas, Calif., on a Sunday afternoon movie date. Witnesses told ABC News that the photographer was blocking Bieber’s car, leading to the star’s reaction.

“They were stopping him from leaving the parking lot and that made him really mad,” witness Summer Janis told ABC News.

Bieber and Gomez left before the authorities could arrive, KABC reported. But the photographer complained of pain and insisted on an ambulance. He also filed a police report, alleging battery by the 18-year-old singer, but sources tell TMZ he only did so after a lawyer passing by suggested that he could get some money out of it.

Sheriff’s officials said the photographer was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and released.

Bieber has not commented on the confrontation but took to Twitter early Monday morning to say, “gonna focus on the important stuff, the music.”
