Pippa Middleton Defends Party Planning Book ‘Celebrate’

Clive Brunskill/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Kate Middleton‘s sister, Pippa Middleton, is defending her party planning book, “Celebrate” against critics who have called the book too “basic.”

The sister of the Duchess of Cambridge is fighting back in an article in the Sunday Telegraph by arguing she wanted to produce something simple.

“I wanted to produce something that was achievable; something that people would have on their shelves for years; something that was not too fussy,” Middleton wrote in the article.

She reveals for the first time that she worked in the most working class of establishments – a pub.

“My interest in food really began with a month’s cookery course in Frome, Somerset, after my A-levels. I left the course not an incredible cook, alas, but a real enthusiast. Food and cooking is at the core of entertaining, and my passion grew and grew,” Middleton wrote.

Middleton also claims some culinary chops by citing her less traditional dishes such as slow-braised pig’s cheeks, muntjac ragu (Chinese deer meat sauce), ox tongue baguettes and pigeon-breast salad.

“She was quite keen to write something that reflected her a little bit more, reflected actually how she’s learnt all these tips, where she’s learnt them from, something a bit more personal and warm,” said  Sunday Telegraph Royal Correspondent Roya Nikkhah.

Middleton also revealed that she likes whiskey sours and reportedly plans to write two more books – one about children’s parties, another about planning weddings.

“By writing something she takes back control and says, ‘this is why I’ve done it, this is how I learnt to do it, this is why I’m putting it out there.’ I don’t think she’s that fussed about the critics, to be honest,” said Nikkhah.

Pippa Middleton Steps Out in New York

Ian Gavan/GP/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- During a trip to New York with friends, British socialite Pippa Middleton did what the city’s rich and fabulous do on their weekends, and jetted off to the Hamptons.

After she was spotted at a number of New York City hotspots, including seafood restaurant Catch in the Meatpacking District, the Duchess of Cambridge’s younger sister then took a sea plane to Shelter Island, People magazine reported.

The royal sister was seen with 55-year-old hotelier André Balazs, the force behind such hotspots as the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood and the Mercer hotel in New York, off the eastern end of Long Island.

Guests at the Sunset Beach hotel and restaurant saw Middleton and Balazs take in a friendly game of table tennis. The 28-year-old Middleton was captured by Canadian morning television news show host Melissa Grelo, who tweeted a photo she’d snapped.

“Just another day in the Hamptons. Pippa Middleton here at Shelter Island as a guest of hotelier Andre Balazs,” she tweeted.

On Monday, Middleton headed back into the city to attend the U.S. Open’s fourth round and quarterfinal matches, where she arrived in style wearing a color-blocked dress and tan heels.

Middleton, who briefly worked at a public relations firm, is now writing a party-planning book, Celebrate: A Year of Festivities for Families and Friends. In April she was listed as one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People.

Prince William, Kate Middleton Party With Pippa on New Year’s Eve

Chris Jackson/Getty Images(LONDON) -- After spending her first Christmas as a royal at the Queen’s Sandringham estate, Kate Middleton went back to her roots, ringing in the New Year with husband Prince William in her hometown.

The royal pair reportedly celebrated 2012 at a party thrown by Middleton’s younger sister Pippa at the Middleton family’s Berkshire home. The 28-year-old event planner pitched a teepee-style tent, known as a kata, in the backyard, according to the U.K.’s Daily Mail.

The tent, which Pippa Middleton reportedly rented for the event, costs around $5,000, and features a dance floor and seating for 100 guests. A bystander described it to the Daily Mail as a “canvas palace.”

Pippa comes from a family of party planners—her parents Michael and Carole Middleton own the U.K. party supply company Party Pieces.

One A-list bachelor who was missing from the guest list: Prince Harry. William’s younger brother was seen at a ski resort in Switzerland, partying with friends and cousins Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, at a New Year’s Eve bash.

For the royal newlyweds, spending the evening in a tent (albeit a pricey one) in the family backyard is very different than the formal affair Prince William and Middleton had been expected to attend with his father Prince Charles and Camilla at their country estate in Aberdeen, Scotland.

The rest of the royal bunch attended the traditional New Year’s Day service at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene at the Sandringham House in Norfolk, England. Prince Phillip, the queen’s 90-year-old husband who had emergency surgery to repair a blocked coronary artery over Christmas, made an appearance and greeted bystanders who gathered to catch a glimpse of the royals, according to the Daily Mail.

ABC/ HAZEL THOMPSON(LONDON) -- Pippa Middleton’s bridesmaid dress, which she wore when she was Duchess Catherine’s maid of honor in the royal wedding of the century, is now available for purchase on the British version of the website,, according to TIME.

Pippa Middleton Back on the Market?

SAV/FilmMagic(LONDON) -- Pippa Middleton may be single again.

The famous sister of Kate Middleton was dubbed “Her Royal Hotness” after her stunning good looks wowed onlookers when she served as a bridesmaid at her sister’s wedding in April.

Now the British tabloids are buzzing about the reported break-up with ex-cricketer Alex Loudon.

Various publications have said Middleton, 27, and her apparently erstwhile boyfriend had been arguing in recent weeks.

According to a report in The Sun, an unnamed source said Middleton tried to get over the split with Loudon, 31, by spending the weekend with her sister and brother-in-law, Prince William.

“She and Alex split briefly in the summer — but this time it’s over. They are barely speaking,” The Sun quoted the same source as saying.

Pippa Middleton Media Stardom Grows Into Documentary

Chris Jackson/Getty Images(LONDON) -- The name Pippa Middleton held marginal significance until the 29th of April, when her big sister, Kate, tied the knot to Prince William. Now known as the sister-in-law of Britain's apparent future King, Middleton, 27, gained immense popularity virtually overnight, even garnering the moniker, "Her Royal Hotness."

"It's all part of the Middleton interest, the ordinary family being part of the royal family. It's the dream, the fantasy," said Colleen Harris, former press secretary to Princes Charles, William and Harry.

And you know you've hit it big when, within mere months of your name taking over the twitterverse, you're the single subject of a film. TLC will air next week a one-hour special entitled Crazy About Pippa, a documentary that tries to answer the question of who this British party planner is and what she's really all about.

"Our interest stemmed from the fact that a pretty young woman entered Westminster Abbey as a sister of a bride, and emerged as a global phenomenon in the space of an hour," the film's executive producer, David Notman-Watt, said. "It was literally within minutes of her appearing holding Kate's train, Twitter went crazy, Facebook went crazy."

Examining Middleton's rise to fame, the doc touches on many of the elements that have boosted Middleton's star power. From her party life in London's trendy Chelsea neighborhood to her strict fitness regime, experts from relatives to journalists weigh in on why everyone actually is crazy about Pippa.

Claudia Joseph, author of biography Kate: The Making of a Princess, said the apparent future queen's sister has a certain je ne sais quoi. "[Pippa and Kate are] two very attractive girls who've been mingling with the royals for a number of years," she said. "But people know very little about them and that's part of their mystique."

Crazy About Pippa is scheduled to air Aug. 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on TLC.

Pippa Middleton's Love Life Takes Center Stage

Chris Jackson/Getty Images(LONDON) -- Since the royal wedding between Kate Middleton and Prince William, many have been waiting to see how Kate's little sister Pippa Middleton would cash in on her new-found fame as Britain's most eligible woman. It seems she may have traded in beau Alex Loudon, the cricket-star-turned-banker, for an even wealthier lad.

Middleton, 27, has not been seen publicly with Loudon, 30, for several weeks. But she has been seen tooling around town, as well as Spain, with former flame George Percy, the son of the Duke of Northumberland and one of Britain's richest men. As the duke's eldest son, Percy stands to inherit a large fortune.

Middleton's appearances with Percy at a swanky Madrid nightclub and a posh London restaurant have prompted Britain's newspapers to report that she and Loudon have separated. She has not been seen publicly with Loudon since the royal wedding on April 29.

According to Britain's Daily Mail, Middleton and Percy dated when they were students at Edinburgh University, where they were also flatmates. They've remained friends for nearly 10 years.

Now Percy is Middleton's boss. After their week in Spain, Middleton took a job with Percy's geothermal energy firm. In addition to juggling her role at party planner Table Talk and editing an online magazine for her parents' business Party Pieces, Middleton is expected to help lobby for government licenses to allow the energy firm to drill underground for hot water that can be turned into heat and electricity.

Middleton and Percy recently took time out from work to watch the AEGON tennis championship in London and got caught in the rain.

Since appearing as Kate's maid of honor in the form-fitting ivory satin cowl-necked dress, Middleton has been dubbed "her royal hotness" by the tabloids.

Named the number-one society singleton by Tatler magazine in 2008, Pippa was considered all but engaged to Loudon. The couple began dating in December 2010. Loudon's status with the Middleton family was underscored in April when he sat with them in the front row of Westminster Abbey for the royal wedding.

Who is Pippa Middleton's Boyfriend?

Marcus Trescothick/Getty Images(LONDON) -- After Kate Middleton and Prince William tied the knot, eyes turned to Kate's stunning sister Pippa -- who glided down the aisle, garnering almost as much attention as the bride herself. Dressed in a butter cream dress adorned with buttons down the back, Pippa Middleton, the maid of honor, was nicknamed "Her Royal Hotness" by the London tabloids.

But heads up, guys, Pippa is off the market. Alex Loudon -- Alexander Guy Rushworth Loudon, 30, son of James Loudon, a retired financier -- accompanied Pippa to the royal wedding and the two have reportedly been dating since December 2010.

Loudon attended the independent school Eton College, and went on to Durham University before seeking an MBA at the London Business School. At Eton, Loudon was named president of an elite society called Pop and was "unbelievably popular" at both Eton and Wellesley House, the prep school he attended, according to the Daily Mail.

Nicknamed "Noisy," "Minor," "A-Lo" and "Minotaur," Loudon spent time on the cricket field and even played professionally for a short time before retiring in 2007 to pursue his MBA. This 6-foot 3-inch athlete captained the England-Under-19 team for the 1999-2000 World Cup, according to ESPN Crickinfo. "I will continue to closely support the club and wish the boys every success for the next season and beyond," Loudon told the BBC when he retired.

Reports say Pippa and Loudon tried to stay out of the spotlight leading up to the royal wedding, but a source told Marie Claire "He's madly in love with her." The source also said, "Alex thinks it's hilarious that suddenly the world has discovered Pippa."

Her profile got a major lift last month the moment she walked down the red carpet in her white satin Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen dress.
