(NEW YORK) -- After debuting at number three on the Billboard album chart 11 weeks ago, Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday has finally risen to the number one spot. On top of that, the album has just gone platinum, having sold 1,035,000 copies since its release, according to Nielsen Soundscan.
A thrilled Minaj tweeted to her fans on Wednesday, "We finally did it! PINK FRIDAY is the #1 album in the United States of America!!!!! *faints* thank u sooooo much for the continued support."
Pink Friday's chart-topping feat is due to an 18 percent uptick in sales, which Billboard suggests is due to Minaj's appearance on Saturday Night Live.
Minaj's profile was also raised by viral videos of both Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez rapping her song "Super Bass." In five days, the two clips racked up over two million hits.
