ABC's "Last Resort," CBS' "Elementary" Premiere Thursday Night

Hemera/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- ABC and CBS each debut a new drama on Thursday night.  Here's a closer look at all of the night's premieres.  All times Eastern:


  • Last Resort, 8 p.m. -- The new drama follows a captain and his crew of a powerful nuclear submarine, who receive mysterious orders to fire at a foreign country and find themselves under attack.  Andre Braugher and Scott Speedman star.
  • Grey's Anatomy, 9 p.m. -- The ninth season begins with the doctors at Seattle Grace dealing with the aftermath of the plane crash.
  • Scandal, 10:02 p.m. -- Season two launches with Quinn's real identity being revealed.


  • The Big Bang Theory, 8 p.m. -- Raj is feeling alone when his friends go on dates in the season-six premiere.
  • Two and a Half Men, 8:30 p.m. -- The sitcom, featuring a returning Ashton Kutcher, launches its 10th season on a new night.
  • Person Of Interest, 9 p.m. -- Jim Caviezel's Reese attempts to track down his kidnapped friend Finch in the first episode of season two.
  • Elementary, 10 p.m. -- Jonny Lee Miller is Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu co-stars as his female sidekick, Dr. Joan Watson, in this modern-day spin on the classic detective character, set in New York.

ABC's "Modern Family," "The Neighbors" Among Wednesday's Premieres

ABC/BOB D'AMICO(NEW YORK) -- The fall season continues Wednesday night with the premieres of several shows, including three ABC comedies.  Here’s a closer look. 


  • The Middle, 8 p.m. -- A one-hour episode kicks off season four.  Among the highlights: Mike accidentally reveals that Axl is his favorite child.
  • Modern Family, 9 p.m. -- The Emmy-winning comedy opens its fourth season with Gloria revealing her pregnancy.
  • The Neighbors, 9:31 p.m. -- In this new comedy, a family moves into a neighborhood inhabited by aliens.  Jami Gertz plays the matriarch of the family.


  • Criminal Minds, 9 p.m. -- A Texas prisoner escapes on the eighth-season premiere of the drama.
  • CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, 10 p.m. -- The CSI team searches for the kidnapped granddaughter of D.B. Russell to begin season 13.


  • Animal Practice, 8 p.m. -- You may remember that NBC caught flak for airing a preview of this animal vet comedy during its coverage of the Olympics closing ceremony last month.  Wednesday marks the show's official premiere.
  • Guys With Kids, 8:30 p.m. -- The pilot was broadcast a few weeks ago.  In case you missed it, the show revolves around three 30-something-year-old guys and their unique take on fatherhood.
  • Law & Order: SVU, 9 p.m. -- Season 14 launches with Cragen being investigated for a prostitute’s murder.

Warner Bros. Contemplate Cancelling More International Premieres of ‘Dark Knight Rises’

Warner Bros. Pictures/DC Comics(LOS ANGELES) -- After the tragic shooting spree at a midnight screening of Dark Knight Rises in the Denver suburb of Aurora, Colo., Warner Brothers canceled the scheduled premiere of the film in Paris and are considering cancelling next week’s premieres and press junkets in Mexico City and Tokyo reports Variety.

Further publicity is being rescheduled.

ABC's 'Pan Am' Among This Weekend's Season Premieres

ABC/BOB D'AMICO(NEW YORK) -- Couch potatoes will have all sorts of options on TV to choose from this weekend, with all of the major broadcast networks launching new seasons of popular shows. Here's a closer look. All times Eastern:


* A Gifted Man, 8:00 p.m. -- The new drama centers around a surgeon who begins to learn the meaning of life from his late ex-wife. Patrick Wilson and Julie Benz star.

* CSI: NY, 9:00 p.m. -- In the first episode of season eight, Mac and the team commemorate the 10-year anniversary of 9/11.

* Blue Bloods, 10:00 p.m. -- The second-season premiere focuses on a supporter of the mayor-elect who's found dead.

* Kitchen Nightmares, 8:00 p.m. -- Gordon Ramsay lends a hand to a New Jersey restaurant.

* Fringe, 9:00 p.m. -- The aftermath of Peter Bishop's disappearance is explored in the fourth-season premiere.

* Nikita, 8:00 p.m. -- Maggie Q's title character plots against Division and Oversight in the second-season premiere.

* Supernatural, 9:00 p.m. -- Castiel takes over as God as the seventh season begins.


* Saturday Night Live, 11:30 p.m. -- Season 37 kicks off with Alec Baldwin as the host and Radiohead as the musical guest.


* Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, 7:00 p.m. -- First Lady Michelle Obama makes an appearance as the crew builds a home for a woman and her son, who help homeless female veterans.

* Desperate Housewives, 9:00 p.m. -- The eighth and final season starts with the ladies of Wisteria Lane feeling guilty after they helped Carlos conceal his crime.

* Pan Am, 10:00 p.m. -- Set in the 1960s, the new drama focuses on a flight crew working for Pan Am. Christina Ricci stars.

* The Amazing Race, 8:00 p.m. -- Eleven new teams compete for the one-million-dollar grand prize.

* The Good Wife, 9:00 p.m. -- Emmy-winner Julianna Margulies' character, Alicia, defends a Muslim student who's accused of murdering a Jewish classmate in the third-season debut.

* CSI: Miami, 10:00 p.m. -- The crew chases after an escaped murderer as season 10 begins.

* The Simpsons, 8:00 p.m. -- Kiefer Sutherland and Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio lends their voices to the 23rd-season premiere.

* The Cleveland Show, 8:30 p.m. -- Cleveland goes on a camping trip hosted by real-life wrestling legend Ric Flair.

* Family Guy, 9:00 p.m. -- Peter Griffin strikes it rich in the lottery to kick off season 11.

* American Dad, 9:30 p.m. -- Cee Lo Green guest stars as the voice of a hot tub purchased by Stan.

'Little Fockers,' 'True Grit' Open Nationwide

Photo Courtesy - Universal Pictures(NEW YORK) -- Christmas comes early at your local theater on Wednesday, when two movies open nationwide.  Here’s a closer look:

* Little Fockers -- Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro return for the third film in the Meet the Parents franchise.  Stiller’s Greg Focker and Teri Polo’s Pam are now the parents of twins, who are preparing for their birthday party.  As usual, De Niro’s Jack Byrnes makes life very difficult for Greg.  Owen Wilson, Blythe Danner, Dustin Hoffman, Barbra Streisand and Jessica Alba also star in the PG-13 rated film.

* True Grit -- A 14-year-old girl turns to a tough marshal for help in tracking down the person who killed her father.  Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin and Hailee Steinfeld star in the Coen brothers’ remake of the classic 1969 John Wayne Western.  The film is rated PG-13.
