'Thor' Remains Atop Box Office for Second Week

Ryan McVay/Photodisc(LOS ANGELES) -- The film Thor continued its reign at the top of the box office for the second straight week, tallying $34.5 million in ticket sales over the weekend.

Bridesmaids had to settle for second place grossing a total of $24.4 million.

Fast Five ($19.5 million), Priest ($14.5 million) and Rio ($8 million) round out the weekend's top five at the box office, in that order.

'Bridesmaids,' 'Priest,' 'Hesher' Open Friday

Comstock Images/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- Here's a look at the new movies opening nationwide Friday:

-- Bridesmaids: Saturday Night Live cast member Kristen Wiig is the maid of honor for her best friend, played by ex-SNL star Maya Rudolph.  Their characters, plus the bridesmaids, find themselves in all sorts of wacky situations before the wedding.  Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ellie Kemper and Jon Hamm also star in the Judd Apatow-produced comedy.  Rated R.

-- Priest: Paul Bettany is a priest and warrior who attempts to hunt down the vampires who've kidnapped his niece.  Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q and Karl Urban also star in the film, which is screening in 3D.  Rated PG-13.

Opening in limited release Friday:

-- Hesher: Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as a doesn't-give-a-damn homeless drifter who befriends a boy who's mourning the loss of his mother.  Natalie Portman, who produced the film, also stars.  The Office's Rainn Wilson plays the boy's distraught father.´╗┐
