(CHICAGO) -- Oprah Winfrey was one of then-Senator Barack Obama's biggest public supporters in the 2008 election, but she'll be very low-key in 2012.
PopEater.com reports Winfrey, who recently launched her cable network, OWN, is reportedly acting in the best interests of the fledgling channel amid fears that throwing her support behind President Obama's re-election bid would turn off viewers. A source says, "Unlike in 2008, when a drop in ratings didn't matter as much for the queen of TV, Oprah is now fighting every day to get people to tune into OWN." The insider added, "Helping a friend keep the most important job in the world is great, but making sure her OWN network thrives is now her priority."
There's no comment on the report from anyone in Oprah's camp.
