Former 'Vampire Slayer' Returns to TV

Wendy Redfern/Redferns(LOS ANGELES) -- Former Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress Sarah Michelle Gellar returns to TV on Tuesday night in a new CW drama.

In Ringer, Gellar plays a woman who tries to protect herself after witnessing a murder by assuming the identity of her twin sister. However, she also assumes the problems of her sister in the process.

Gellar says she took the role with Buffy fans in mind. She says, "I think as an actor, sure you want to stretch and do different things, but I think it's also our job to think about who our fans are and what they want to see too, because let's be honest, ultimately that's why we do it."

Ringer debuts Tuesday night at 9 p.m. Eastern time, following the fourth-season premiere of 90210.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Confirms Guest Spot on 'All My Children'

ABC, Inc.(LOS ANGELES) -- Former soap star Sarah Michelle Gellar confirmed that she will make a guest appearance on All My Children.

Gellar spoke to television critics in Beverly Hills on Thursday about her new CW show Ringer. The 34-year-old said she was devastated when she heard the long-running soap -- affectionately known as AMC -- was ending.

"I didn't understand," Gellar said. "It just doesn't make sense to me."

She says she will not return as Kendall, which she played starting in 1993 -- winning a Daytime Emmy for her efforts -- since another actress has taken over the role.

As producers prepare for the show's fade to black in September, other stars have decided to return to say goodbye, including Transformers star Josh Duhamel, and comic legend Carol Burnett.
