Kate Middleton Makes First On-Camera Charitable Appeal as a Royal

WPA Pool / Getty Images(LONDON) -- A pregnant Duchess of Cambridge has made her first on-camera charitable appeal for children’s hospices in the United Kingdom.

In the video, which made its debut Saturday, Kate Middleton urges people to support children’s hospice week.

“Children’s hospices provide lifelines to families at a time of unimaginable pain,” the royal mum-to-be says in the video.

Middleton and Prince William are celebrating their second wedding anniversary on Monday, the same day the Duchess plans to visit Naomi Children’s Hospital in Hampshire, England.

Two years after their fairy tale wedding, the royal couple have shown a desire to live as normal a life as they possibly can.

“They’re really shaking things up behind the scenes and within the royal family,” said ABC News’ royals expert Victoria Arbiter. “They’ve done things that we wouldn’t have expect of them.”

They’ve also spent vacations with Kate’s family, commoners who made their fortune with a party goods business.

“I think William was sending a clear message that yes, Kate’s a member of the royal family, but he, too, is a member of the Middleton family,” Arbiter said.

With the royal heir due in two months, the royal couple plan to be hands-on parents.

“They will have nannies at some point,” Arbiter said, “but I don’t think it’s going to be the school of nannies we’ve seen in the past.”

Prince Harry Parties…With J-Lo?

Stuart Wilson/Getty Images(LAS VEGAS) -- Forget the need for bodyguards or disguises.  When a prince wants to go incognito in the U.S., all he has to do is party alongside the queen of bling, Jennifer Lopez.

That was the lesson learned by Britain’s Prince Harry, who went virtually unnoticed while partying at the same place as J-Lo herself this weekend, MGM Grand’s Wet Republic in Las Vegas.

The 27-year-old, fun-loving royal wore baggy red Bermuda shorts, sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat while partying in a VIP bungalow Saturday with five male and five female friends, the UK’s The Sun reports.

Perhaps inspired by the hours he spent watching women’s beach volleyball during the London Olympics, Harry was spotted carrying a giant inflatable beach ball and reportedly running after it in the crowd.  Apparently he remained anonymous.

“Harry looked to be in his element, being able to enjoy himself without anyone outside of his group recognizing him,” a source told the Sun. “They were dancing away and throwing a beach ball around, like any other young people having a good time.”

Also up for a good time, in a very high-profile way, was Harry’s surprise paparazzi cover for the afternoon, J-Lo.  The former American Idol host, now on tour with Enrique Iglesias, hosted the pool party just hours before her Sin City concert and happily kept the spotlight on herself, walking the red carpet and then sunning in a two-piece white midriff-baring outfit.

Lopez and her beau, Casper Smart, ate, drank and relaxed in a bungalow just a few short steps away from Prince Harry, although the trio never appeared to interact or greet each other, according to

The prince, who is the third in line to the throne, continued the fun after the sun had set, moving from the pool to the casino at the Wynn resort, where he played craps, a source told the Daily Beast.

The next day, Harry reportedly stayed at the Wynn for another pool party, this one at the luxury hotel’s Encore Beach Club.

Harry last tried his luck in Vegas last November when he played several rounds of blackjack and hit the dance floor at the Wynn’s Tryst nightclub. He was in the United States for a two-month helicopter training program in California and Arizona.

Kate Middleton to Wear 5 Outfits for First Royal Christmas

Chris Jackson/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) -- No Christmas pajamas or ugly Christmas sweaters for the Duchess of Cambridge! Kate Middleton will spend her first Christmas with the royal family at Sandringham, and will reportedly wear five different outfits on Christmas Day alone.

The duchess told a fellow guest at the Sun Military Awards to honor British troops that she, “was looking forward to Christmas with Prince William’s family,” and confirmed that she would have to change her wardrobe five times, according to The Sun newspaper.

“Kate will need a casual outfit for breakfast, a smart outfit and a hat for the morning church service, a dress for lunch, a cocktail dress for early evening drinks and a full-length dress for the evening meal,” ABC News contributor Kate Nicholl told Good Morning America, explaining that the same will be required of all of the attendees at the royal Christmas.

Twenty-seven guests are expected to join the queen for Christmas at Sandringham, a 20,000 acre estate in eastern England. In a break from tradition, non-royal Pippa Middleton, Kate’s sister, has also been invited to take part in the royal family’s Boxing Day pheasant shoot on Dec. 26.
