(LOS ANGELES) -- Brad Pitt is putting his money where his mouth is as he pushes for the legalization of same-sex marriage in a number of states.
The Human Rights Campaign announced on Wednesday that Pitt will match every dollar contributed by the group's members to ballot measure campaigns for those states, up to $100,000. Same-sex marriage is on the ballot for next week's election in the states of Maryland, Maine, Minnesota and Washington.
Pitt said in an email sent to HRC members, "It's unbelievable to me that people's lives and relationships are literally being voted on in a matter of days....If you're like me, you don't want to have to ask yourself on the day after the election, what else could I have done?"
Pitt, who's engaged to Angelina Jolie, has long been an advocate for same-sex marriage.
